“Superior Family Accommodation”
Reviewed 28 August 2011

This is not the first time we have been to St Pete Beach and we booked the Gulf Tides Inn for a two week family holiday based on the reviews of Trip Advisor and they weren't wrong! We were greeted by a spacious one bedroom suite and as well as very friendly and welcoming staff. During our entire stay we found that nothing was too much trouble and that everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome. In addition, we received very useful information on where to eat out and with their help discovered some restaurants we would certainly visit again, namely Dockside Dave's and Beverly's. It was the small things that made this place so appealing like the use of a gas barbeque, where to purchase the meat to cook on it, outside table and chairs, a library with a wide range of reading material, telephone to make free local calls, laundry facilities, scales to weigh our suitcases for the return journey - the list could go on! The only criticism we would have is that the Gulf Tides Inn lulls you into such a sense of relaxation as a result of which your holiday passes by all too quickly! In summary, the Gulf Tides Inn provides accommodation and facilities which are safe, secure, exceptionally clean, friendly and very welcoming. We will most certainly choose this place for our next visit to Florida, which can't come around too soon!

We stayed here from 10th August for 4 nights. One word "Fantastic"! We were 2 families of 4 including 3 teenagers and 1 eight yr old. We took 2 one bedroom suites and 1 efficiency. All were extremely clean, well equipped and the beds were v. comfortable. Rooms have well equipped kitchens as well as new flat screen TVs with cable!
A/C has been upgraded recently and is really quiet. The greatest thing about this place is that there are 10 units and they all open directly on to the pool deck area - great when you need to pop back indoors to the fridge for a refill!!
Christine could not do enough for us!! Very helpful and accommodating.
The beach is a 5 min walk. There are loads of restaurants, ice cream parlours and bars within walking distance or you could book one of the free taxis , which we did.
Yes, really, they are FREE - you just tip the driver.
We would deffo go back and would recommend Gulf Tides to everyone.

St Petes Beach
Plenty of dining options here - we ate out every night and every meal was excellent. Would recommend Cafe Luna which is literally a 2 minute walk from Gulf Tides. Fantastic food.
I would definitely go back to St Petes Beach, plenty to do and see!

We recently stayed in room 5. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom is outdated but we were told that it was being renovated soon. Dave and his wife were nothing but gracious. The pool area was nice and we loved the outside tables. The kitchen included everything that you could need from pots and pans to glasses and silverware. The beach was beautiful and a quick 3 min walk from the room. The hit for our kids was the twisty treat ice cream that was a 4 min walk from the hotel. The towels and the sheets smelled so clean ..just like home. I usually dont like my kids to sleep on hotel bedding. I was totally compfortable with them sleeping here!! Felt like we were a guest in someones home ...not just a customer. We will definately return:)

We stayed three nights at the Gulf Tides Inn. As the other reviewers have stated, the units are older, but they are very clean. Also, the air conditioning worked great in our unit, there was a flat screen TV with cable, plenty of dishes and utensils if you want to cook and a small dining table so my kids could eat in the kitchen.

The beach is a few blocks away so if you have very young children, you may prefer to drive to the beach. You have to pay for parking, but I don't know the cost.

We used the pool each day and it was very clean and conveniently located directly outside the unit.

The owners were very friendly and gave us lots of suggestions for dining options.

We will definitely return.

We stayed in room 5 July 18-27th 2011 with our 22 months old daughter and we were impressed by the cleanliness of the property and by how friendly Dave, the owner, is. We chose this motel based on the Trip Advisor rating and reviews and we weren't disappointed. Obviously I wasn't expecting a 5 stars hotel and even the owner doesn't pretend it is. Our main requirements were a safe, clean and quiet property. That is what we got. Our suite was big and we really appreciated the closed bedroom. Especially with a toddler who naps in the afternoon and who go to bed early. The room had two double beds and they were very comfortable. Another big plus was the table just in front of our unit to eat and relax after a long day at the beach. It was great to eat outside since the weather was gorgeous. We also appreciated that beach chairs and umbrellas were available to borrow and we could do our laundry for a small fee. The only negative aspects of the property were a dated bathroom and the fact that the pool doesn't have a shallow portion (it starts at 4 feet and quickly reaches 7 feet deep). But both were extremely clean and they won't stop us from going back. Especially after visiting the renovated bathroom of unit 10 (the owner told us he will renovate the other units soon).

On St. Pete Beach:

While we were at St Pete Beach we ate at Agave (Mexican), Rib City, Larry's (ice cream) and Beverly's La Croisette (breakfast). We liked them all. Especially Larry's! We mostly went to the beach 5 minutes from the Gulf Tides Inn and to North Beach at Fort DeSoto Park (15 minutes drive). Of the two our favourite was North Beach because it had less broken shells in the sand and the slope in the water was more suited for a toddler. We were planning on trying other beaches but we ended up always going back to these two.

To conclude, we are planning on going back.

This was the most relaxing vacation we have ever had..Our room was #8 and we loved it. Kitchen had everything you needed & the bed was to die for. Everyone there was so friendly and Dave was a great host. He made sure you had everything you needed and recommended many attractions & restaurants to try. The pool was fantastic and clean. The BBQ worked great and the washer/dryer was very helpful..We will be coming back, but the next time with our families as a group. Can't wait! Thanks Dave.....

Stayed here for a week. Had a lovely relaxing week here, met some lovely people,Bob & Lorraine from Montreal, who BBQ our dinner one night, which was an excellent meal, also Dave the owner, who gave us some great info on places to eat.
Room was great had a 1 bedroom apt sofa bed inliving room and Kitchen area with everything you need. Place was very clean and lots of beds around the pool, and a Gas BBQ for use, There was always rooms occupied but it was extremely quiet and after 11pm there was no noise at all.
Would definetly recommend this for a quiet break away from Orlando and the parks

Room Tip: Book early for 1 bedroom apt
