This is the 3rd year in a row for us and I continue to love the place. Beautiful vews, friendly people. Our whole apartment had been redone. New floors, shower and new beds as well. Property is well maintained and staff go out of there way to accommodate. Love Sandbar Bills.
We will return.

Just returned from our 3rd annual trip to St. Pete and a week stay at the Bon-Aire. Continues to be such a relaxing and beautiful place to stay. Our apartment had been updated with tile floors, and a modern tiled shower. The staff, especially housekeeping, were so very friendly. Sandbar Bill's still serving up great food and drinks. Stayed during the resort's 60th birthday celebration. Spoke with some folks who had stayed in our room for 25 years beginning in the 1960s! "We paid $9.00 a night, and had free coffee and donuts!" Enough said. 60 years and going strong!

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Bon Aire. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Prices at the grill/bar were very reasonable and the cheeseburgers phenomenal. Because I booked late, I was going to have to change rooms a couple of times, but Janice put in extra effort so I only changed once, and they did all the work. Overall I thought it was a great place, loved the feel and the other guests were fun and interesting. I hope to go back yearly. Oh, the egret that visits was a cute bonus.

Thsi was our first stay at this resort. Built in the 50s, the resort is well cared for, giving the flavor of Florida resort living in the 60s and 70s. We had an efficiency equipped with microwave, toaster, fridge, coffe maker...all that is needed for a light breakfast or lunch. The resort boasts two beautiful well cared for pools. For the more adventurous, the resort is right on the beach allowing easy access to the ocean for swimming or fishing. There are many facilities for lounging on the resort by the beach to soak up the sun, or read. There are Bar-B-Q grills available for guest use, for those who wish to make their own supper. As well, Sand Bar Bill's, located on the resort on the beach, can provide the liquid refreshment of your choice as well a a light meal. Their burgers are among the best we have had. There are many first class restaurants within easy walking or driving distance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and intend to return next year.

Room Tip: There is a wide variety of choice from hotel rooms to deluxe efficiencies equipped with a full kitch...

Sounds like an exaggeration I know but...we had a long flight coming into Tampa. So it was dark when we got there. The place was easy to find and so we pulled up to the office, and even though it was 10:00 at night, the guy at the desk was incredibly pleasant.

On walking to the room even at night we could tell the grounds were very well kept. And then we went in the room and we're really happy. These small hotels can really be a gamble, and this one paid off. Our room was a corner that faced the Ocean, a big comfy bed, a decent bathroom and a spacious room. It was really clean too.

Once we cleaned up we walked out to the Tiki bar to have a drink, and even though it was near closing, they made sure we got a drink and offered to keep the TV on so we could watch while they cleaned up. They were really pleasant to talk to and made us feel right at home.

When we woke up in the morning, the view from our window in the light of the day was incredible. Everything looked even nicer in the daylight (not usually the case in Hotels of this age). Before we ended our first day we were trying to figure out what time of year we could come back next year and stay longer.

I would add to this that I saw people picking up the grounds the whole time I was there. They were very meticulous about keeping the property up and it showed. They were also among the friendliest hosts I have encountered.

For the few bad reviews here, this is an older motel and there is evidence of that. It is very well kept but it's not a brand new generic chain hotel.

I would stay here again in a heart beat. We also ate and drank at the Tiki Bar - all was good there and the service was outstanding.

Also, there did not look like a bad room, but the gulf view was worth spending the $ on!!

We stayed here for a few days in to get some sea and sun. I booked online after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. I wasn't quite sure what "old-world charm" and "straight out of a movie set"would be, turned out it just meant old. The kind of old where fifties colors are everywhere, doors don't quite close properly, locking windows needs a strong arm and bathtubs are old and stained.
The property is located right on very busy Gulf Boulevard on one side and on the other side is the beach-which is beautiful white sand.
Our first night there, I heard five shots being fired. Though I don't think they were on the hotel property, it was unsettling. And the second night, I was woken up at 3:30 by male footsteps running past our back window and then walking past our front. Needless to say, I didn't sleep again that night. I was somewhat nervous because there is no nighttime security and the place is pretty open to the street and the beach.
But the pros, the beach is very nice along Gulf Boulevard, the atmosphere is very low key, family oriented. Two pools and a shuffle board provide some entertainment and there are lots of seating areas. The pool areas were clean and attractive.

Our bed was very comfortable, towels changed daily. When we were there, it was only about thirty percent occupied so access to the pool was easy. There is a bakery across the road and a little plaza within walking distance, though getting to restaurants generally required a car ride.
We enjoyed our stay because the beach is so nice, but I don't think I would stay at this particular hotel again. We noticed several other hotels that were on the same beach and would look into staying at one of those if we came back to St. Pete's Beach again.

Room Tip: There are three 'courtyards' at this hotel. Probably the best rooms are somewhere in the mid...

Spent the latter half of my vacation at the Bon Aire on the recommendation of a friend.....loved it! This is a family-owned motel with all the warmth and charm of old-world Florida.....retro! The staff are incredibly friendly and fun, the rooms are charmingly homey and spotlessly clean. There are 2 lovely heated pools and the gorgeous beach at your doorstep, with sunsets that take your breath away. This will definitely be an annual vacation spot for this sun-starved Canuck.
