“The best hotel on St. Pete Beach!”
Reviewed 1 August 2011

We have stayed at other hotels on St. Pete Beach but none of them even compare to the Beachcomber in cleanliness, friendliness and value!

Room Tip: The best room we have found is the ground floor close to the small pool. It is pretty quiet there.

Our stay was perfect. The staff took care of us! The view of the gulf was fabulous

Room Tip: The second floor was quiet. We could see the great viewa.

After reading all the reviews, I decided to try it anyway. I only stayed for a weekend getaway with my wife and kids. I told my family to lower the expectation so we will not be disappointed. I am glad we did because we've got it as we expected!

The resort has a typical old resort architecture. The lobby is nice and spacious. No elevator. As we open the door of our room, we instantly smell the old fabric and old carpet. The curtain and the blankets are so old and smells old. Furniture seems from 1970's. Paint looks old too. Pillows seems it has been use a thousand times. I am really glad we brought our own pillows. Positive side is it is clean and everything is functional. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom is clean. I hope they invest for a room freshener, better pillows, blankets and flooring. They can also update the room color and furnitures. For the $ 385.00 they charge me for 2 nights, I think I deserve a better room. I hope management would consider it because competition seems very though in St. Pete resorts. The pool is OK...kids enjoyed it although a water slide will be a big plus. The beach is a little farther than what I expected. I like the band. The bar is good. Food is average. Parking is a problem. We think twice of driving late because of the parking problem.

The Staff in charge at the beach for the cabana is always in the phone. People hesitate to ask him for help because he is always on the phone. He did not help us to set up the cabana because he is on the phone. I hope he could have a blue tooth earpiece so it is not so obvious that he is in the phone all the time. Sunday morning at 10:00 the walkway to the beach has beer cans and plastic cups everywhere. House keepers are very courteous and they are the only one who greet us everyday. They are the only one who smiles to us everyday.

It is hard for me to recommend a place like this. The biggest negative factor is the room, the worn out pillows and the old smell of the fabrics!

This hotel was adequate for our vacation. The room was bigger than we expected because it had a small kitchenette which included a small table to use our laptops. The internet in the room is blazing fast and was very easy to connect to. We had a room on the second floor that was farther away from the bar so noise wasn't an issue. I could see it being loud though if you were near the bar (Jimmy B's). Short walk to the beach (<3 minutes). Rooms were somewhat outdated but once again good for the price.

Room Tip: Get a 2nd floor room, away from Jimmy B's

the pictures online were not very accurate, but the hotel was o.k. It;s an older hotel that is being fixed up. Nice pools, directly on the beach, live entertainment in the beach bar, not bad at all.
However, rooms could be cleaner, and the beds were horrid. They said they were workking on therse problems.

Room Tip: two story building, get a room on the first floor, dark stairways to get upstairs.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel between July 11-July 15. We have never been to this area of Florida. After reading the reviews we picked the Beachcomber. We were very pleased. We stayed on the secnd floor outside the quiet pool. It was really great staying there as you could come and go from the beach all day. Yes it was hot but we love the hot weather as long as we can cool off and this location was Perfect. After exploring at night different restaurants in the area it is great to park the car and watch the sunset and then enjoy a different band every night and not have to drive. A special thank you to all the bartenders they were great. Expecially Darlene she was the best. She tried her hardest for me to get to see the Red Sox as they were in town. We will return many times in the future.

This is my family's 5th year at The Beachcomber and we love it!

While it is an older hotel, it is in great condition and very well kept. The garden/courtyard is very well maintained and the staff takes great care of the landscaping. The rooms are average size and nothing fancy, but clean. We always stay in a room with a kitchen, so that gives us some extra room.

All of the staff is incredibly friendly. It was great to see housekeeping work as a team. And the front desk staff was very friendly. Upon our arrival, there was a leak in our bathroom from the room above us letting their bathtub run over. Maintenance addressed the issue immediately and came back the next morning to make sure that the leak had stopped.

The property is right on the beach and very affordable. The parking is a bit tricky, but this is the downfall of being located right on the beach. The majority of the other hotels on the beach have their parking set up the same way. If you don't want to park along the side of the property and be forced to back out, there is a lot at the front of the property - you will just have to walk further to your room.

Having two pools is a great option. The smaller pool tends to be the 'adult' or quiet pool and at times made it feel like you were at your own private pool as opposed to a pool at a hotel. There's also a 'take it or leave it' box at the big pool where guests can leave floats, noodles, and pool toys for other guests to use. We didn't buy a float or noodle while we were there because we just borrowed them from the box.

Great property! Great location! Great staff! We'll be back again next year!
