No complaints about the hotel. we had a room with a kitchen and the room was all in good order. the pool was large with plenty of loungers. my only criticism was a lack of good restaurants in walking distance, in fact very little in walking distance other than other hotels.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights early in May, 2008. We managed to get the oceanfront efficiency. But, since it was on the ground floor, you couldnt actually see the ocean with the sand dune in the way. But, at least, it was easy to walk to the Gulf. The second floor would be much better.

We were right outside of the beach bar. The have a band every night of the week. It was pretty loud until 11:30 both nights. But the bands were good, so it wasnt bad at all.

The room had a kitchen and a table to sit or eat at. And two double beds. The beds were adequate. The place is old, but they seem to do a pretty good job of keeping it clean. We probably wouldnt go back, since most of the other places charge the same price , and they are newer.

The parking was a hassle. The property was a little small, so to park on the side of the hotel, you had to back all the way down the alley on the way in. There wasnt much room to turn around once you were down there, especially if the parking was full.

Beautiful St. Pete beach--hotel was very disappointing. Hotel is quite old and the room furnishings were too. Bed was very uncomfortable. Will not be back, pricey for what accomodations were offered. No lobby help after check in, no help offered after check out.

The Beachcomber Hotel was at a great price and that's about it. When we got to the hotel our keys wouldn't work to our room. So we had to sit outside our room for at least 20-30 min. with all of our luggage. I went to the front desk to ask for a new room and all they could say was "sorry we are all booked." Which, I completely understand, but they didn't even offer any kind of compensation. The housekeeping staff and maintenance staff were all very very nice! Although, the pool was not clean at all! They don't have any filters so there was hair, dirt, sand, bugs floating around everywhere. However, the tiki bar right on the property was nice to go sit, drink and eat and the property is right on the beach with convenient access.

If you want to really go out at night or go shopping, this isn't probably the best vacation spot. Most of the nightlife and shopping is at St. Petersburg, Clearwater or Tampa. If you want a nice relaxing vacation this may work for you!

Great hotel at a very reasonable price. All staff was very friendly and helpful. Room clean and bed very comfortable. Nice added touch was a small refrigerator in room. Grounds very well maintained. Has a large indoor sports bar and a nice outside tiki bar (actually has 3 bars total outside) with good entertainment during the day and had a great band each night we were there, Seems to be a favorite with the locals...outside bar was very busy each night on the weekend but had great service. They have a discount card you can apply for to receive a 10% discount off the room rate and discount off food and drinks also. Takes about 5 days to get the card after you apply so apply early. We will definitely return to this hotel. They have a boardwalk that you can walk to the beach...and beach is very clean and nice.

Being a travel agent I like to investigate new properties and never let them know that I'm a travel agent. This hotel was WONDERFUL. We arrived at 1am in the morning after our flight was delayed. The people at the front desk quickly gave us our keys and sent us on our way. This hotel is priced moderately but I definitely say you get your moneys worth. The rooms are clean and quite big. All of the rooms have refridgerators in them. From the front desk to the maid service, everyone was nice and helpful. Jimmy B's ROCKS!!!! I would not hesitate to book any of my client there.

We had stayed at the Beachcomber 12 years before when it was the Days Inn Beach Resort. It has gone through several owners since and was showing it's age but we expected that.
We visited St. Pete Beach often but this year wanted something at the north end where several friends had rented a condo for a month. We also wanted an "on the beach" experience at a good price.
We had been checking Trip Advisor for several years and the reviews of the Beachcomber warned us to not stay.
However, reviews of the past few monhs were better so we gave it a try.
Basically, the hotel met our expectations. It is real good value but you get what you pay for. TA said it was sometimes a "party hotel". It was but only one night when some school teachers charponing their kids were blowing off a little steam after a swim meet. They were OK after 1:00 pm when security spoke to them.
We could understand if you were close to the tiki bar that the music could keep you awake at night but it stopped around 1:00. You would not want a room near the bar if music bothers you. Forewarned is for armed. Again, TA had said it was a potential problem but not for us.
Actually, Jimmy's B's tiki bar was one of the best things about the place. It is one of the hotest spots on the beach. Lots of interesting people. Good drinks and food is what you expect. We used our resort card and only paid when we left. Our friends dropped by several times.
Entertainment at night was sometimes "average" but everyone seemed to be having a good time. We felt safe as well.
Speaking of a safe, we paid the $2 for the inroom safe. We had no problems that way.
Staff were attentitive but sometimes you had to remind them for an extra towel, etc.
We were upgraded to a kitchette type room (half the rooms). It had a medium sized kitchen with only a mini bar fridge (??). The room also featured a large walk in closet which allowed us to hang up everything. The bathroom was average small. Twin beds (not queens) were a little small and only average comfy. There was a slight smell to the place when we arrived but we carry a wall plug in deoderizer and that took care of it.
This hotel is probably 25 + years old and they are trying to maintian it as best they can but they are limited by the design. The maintenance guy repaired our door within two hours of seeing the problem. It would not lock as the hinge was loose.
Again, TA indicted that there were maintenance issues so we were prepared.
One TA reviewer indicted they had killed a cockroach and so did we - just one. It may have come in from the door. I advised management when we left. Again, no surprise.
There was free wireless internet for those that needed it and a guest computer at the front desk. Lots of free morning coffee too.
The only major complaint was that that the little pieces of daily refuse, especially cigarette butts (everyone smoked outside as all rooms are NS), need to be cleaned daily and not just blown off the sidewalks.
Overall, considering everything else in the vicinity was 150 to 200 % more, we got what we expected.
