“Need to Improve Music”
Reviewed 12 February 2014

I've been to the Beachcomber, Jimmy B's and Players many times and have had a great time. This last time was a horror show. They really upgraded the Beach Bar but went back in time with the elevator music that used to only play in Players bar. Now "The Blend" plays everywhere in the resort, even in the men's room. Hospitality rule #1. If the guests don't like the music they don't stay as long. Don't stay as long and the house loses money. Instead of spending most of my time at the resort I found myself escaping the music. Every other bar on the beach has a Touchtunes jukebox, including the American Legion. Hopefully the staff will have more latitude to change channels in the future.

Just returned from a 5 night stay. Did not want to leave! Checked in after midnight and was greeted with a smile from a gentleman who is from my home state of Michigan. After a long day of travel when everything seemed to go wrong, it was really nice to see a friendly face and easy check in. Got a room right next to the bar and overlooking the pool with great views of the beach. The front desk told me I could change rooms if music bothered me I love music, so it never bothers me. They have 2 bands that play daily until around 11pm. So much fun here. The beach is right there, so morning walks on the beach were wonderful. Went during the week in February, so it wasn't crowded... had above avg weather 80 to 85. Beautiful sunsets as well.
After reading some reviews, I was expecting much worse. I figured the beds would be horrible, since I was paying more for the location. But the beds were very comfortable, and the kitchenette really saved me some $. Stopped at the grocery store down the road, and got yogurt, water, soda and beer. The room was very clean, the maid was so nice...everyone here was! I did spot a small roach in the kitchen, but I figure you can expect that in a tropical setting.
For the price, you can't beat this. I'm coming back next year, but will definitely stay longer.
I'm glad I chose this area instead of Treasure Island. The only thing this place needs is a hot tub. None many of the hotels in the area have them, wonder why?

Room Tip: If you need peace and quiet, request a room away from the bar

Great place on the Gulf directly on the beach. Friendly Staff, nice heated pool. Very short walk to the beach. Old place but they are working on it. Clean. Nice kitchen. Great place to stay and have fun. Lots of places within walking distance.

Nothing fancy. Had a small kitchen, clean room, fresh towels and comfy beds. The entertainment every night was great, along with the pool. You could pay a lot more for the same stretch of beach at a higher priced hotel.
I have definite plans to keep returning. The staff made me feel real comfortable, as I spent a few days there bu myself until my sisters' arrival.
This was my third time there.

Below is a copy of the email I sent to the Beachcomber - they do an excellent job in keeping their quest happy. We will be going back!

"I wanted to send a short email to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at your hotel.

We spent some time there just before Christmas and again last week. We had a wonderful time on both occasions.

I want to specifically point out the absolute stellar service we received from Debbie at the front desk and Brad at Jimmy B?s.

The service was outstanding. Please let them know that they helped to make the stay wonderful
.
The rest of the staff was great as well.

Thanks again."

We found this hotel just by driving by. It was a great place to spend time in St. Pete. The rooms were comfortable and we could see the ocean from our balcony. Balconies were roomy and had plenty of space for the chairs and visiting. The staff was super helpful and friendly at the hotel and at the beach bar, Jimmy B's. Great access to the beach, with lots of loungers. The heated pool was a good place to swim and spend time. We'll be back!
