We have just returned from a 14 day holiday at this excellent hotel overlooking the beach at St Pete's beach. The hotel is not too large to be impersonal, and the standard of rooms and services was very good. The rooms are in the process of being updated, but no apparent effect on guests staying there. We saw some of the new look rooms and were very impressed, as our room was in a good state anyway. We look forward to staying here again in the future and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. We've stayed in numerous hotels along the beachfront and this one is well worth a visit.

Great Family vacation resort with 2 separate room; 2 Queen beds in our Bermuda ocean front suite. Full sofa bed and full efficiency kitchen. Property has 2 heated outdoor pools plus 2 jacuzzi's. Beachside Bar was open daily until about 9PM. Small exercise facilty. Laundry room, if needed. Close by to restaurants and stores including Publix.

We watched a nice Fireworks display from a neighboring property. Negatives; noisy guests and lack of balconies to sit on. Grills didn't want to work this weekend.

We stayed at the Alden Beach this year after spending a week in Orlando. The contrast was unbelievable!!!. We found the hotel easily, although be warned the sign is not the most prominent on Gulf Boulevard. We found the reception staff really friendly and they were most apologetic that our room wasn't ready for us when we arrived (this was our fault as we arrived at lunchtime and we new we could not check in until 2.00). We stayed in a Nassau Suite on the fifth floor. The room / suite was magnificent. The bedroom contained 2 queen size beds and but they appeared insignificant in the large space. The bathroom was equally spacious and the lounge/ living area was bigger than our lounge at home! We felt totally at home and settled in straight away. The balcony overlooked one of the 2 swimming pools and was again large enough for us to sit out ( with a glass of wine or two). Our cleaner was fantastic, we didn't see her for 4 days ( we wondered if she was an elf, as the room kept being cleaned but we never saw her. Thanks very much Gertie.
The hotel was clean, tidy and very, very comfortable. The location was excellent, beach at one side, road with bars, restaurants and shops on the other.
Chuck and Fred on reception were most helpful and even printed us out maps when we asked for directions to places.
All in all I cannot praise the hotel enough.
It is also worth noting that there are some great restaurants nearby. Our favorites were 'Snappers' (out of the front, turn right, across road - 100 yards) and 'Mosaic' (out of front, turn left, across road - 50 yards). Both restaurants served extremely good food at reasonable prices.
We used to go to the nearby '7/11' store for our basic supplies and breakfast. Fresh pastries, sandwiches etc and most of all endless supplies of fresh. hot coffee. Only 50 yards past 'Mosaic'.

WE stayed here for five nights over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2007 after more than a week at Disney. The location is perfect. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the gulf. The room was small but big enough for our needs. It had a room with two beds and a dresser and a bathroom and a little living area with a small sofa and a table. A small kitchenette was in the hallway between the bedroom and living room. It was small but suited our needs. The furniture is in big need of renovating. But they were doing renovations while we were there. One problem I did encounter was that we were on the second floor and smoking is allowed on the first floor and the smokers made it hard at times for us to enjoy the balcony. I would suggest smoking rooms be on the UPPER FLOORS instead. They had two nice pools, a deck for cook-outs, a small playground, beach volleyball and a nice little beach bar.
What sets this place above the others would have to be the staff. The man at the front desk was wonderful. And of course the location is perfect. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance. We did have some problems with Skidders across the street from the hotel.
This is a great hotel for the money and if they renovate the rooms and get new furniture, it should be the number one hotel in the area.

My husband and I stayed at the Alden from Aug. 7th - Aug 14th. We had a terrific stay. We stayed in a Bermuda Suite, it was the perfect size for 2 people. The staff at the Alden were are very friendly and very helpful when we asked for something. Chuck and Fred at the front desk were very helpful when we needed directions and had great advice of fun things to do in the area. The beach and the hotel property was very clean and kept up very well. We plan to go back to St. Pete Beach every year and stay at the Alden!!!

We stayed at the Alden from 7/21/08-7/25/08 in a Cayman Suite (Rm. 641). Our stay was absolutely fantastic. The room was spotless, and ideal for our family of four. There was plenty of room, and the view was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed waking up, and enjoying a cup of coffee on the immaculate balcony, and then enjoying the day on the beach.

The cabana bar is great. Both bartenders were friendly and went out their way to make us feel relaxed and welcome.

This was our first visit to Florida. We spent the first two nights at a resort a Siesta Key, and then headed to the Alden. We plan to come back next year, but we will spend all our time at the Alden. It was great!

We stayed in a fifth floor Nassau suite from June 19-23rd 2008...

The only complaint I have about the room is the drab decor; the beadspreads and curtains were black and olive green and the carpet and furniture olive green. While these things were visibly new and clean; it's a very poor choice of color (especially for sunny Florida); it makes the room look/feel old and outdated. It took over a day for our bottled water and juice pouches to freeze in the freezer.

The elevator could have been cleaner; the walls, windows and floor were filthy, I could not believe people were walking barefoot in it. The walkways leading to the elevators could have been cleaner as well.

We enjoyed our stay; it was a good value.
