“Worth staying here!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 February 2014

The best part about this hotel is the location. It can not be beat. We book the ground floor, beach front room and it is wonderful. The room is not that special - a basic hotel room, but quite roomy. The best part is the cement patio, where you walk down a few steps right on to the beach. It is perfect. The two lounge chairs on your patio can be moved down to the sand and it a great way to relax and enjoy the beach. We were there over New Year's for a 4 night getaway and we plan to stay there again. We did not eat there, too many good choices nearby. We wish they had a hot tub. That would bump our review up a notch. If it is cool or rainy there is nothing to do in the hotel. We love St. Pete's beach. It is perfect for walking, not too busy that time of year and has the kind of vibe that makes it a relaxing get away. There is a grocery store directly across the street and a refrigerator and microwave in the room for easy breakfast's and lunches. Enjoy your stay!

Stayed here at the dolphin for our final night. Started with a cruise that gouged us then to sanibel island for some more gouging then finally here. Very reasonably priced for location. Location was perfect. Right on the water. Beach bar and bartender great! Front desk exceptional! Thank you especially to Kaen! Matt the bartender has a great personality. Our only hiccup... maintenance said to us that they may need to get in our room as we were at our room door to run cable wires. We had only one more hour to check out. So we put the " do not disturb" sign on the door... doesn't the idiot knock no less than 20 minutes later. Listen dummy... do not disturb... means do not disturb! Wanted to "let us know" again about the cables. Are you kidding me? What a jerk. He made himself look like a donkey and disturbed us for no good reason. He could have waited 40 minutes to when we were checking out. I did let Kaen know what happened and I really hope he addresses the princess attitude. Other than that breakfast was great and service was above average. Thank you! We are definitely returning!

Florida beach hotels are always an adventure. This one is no exception. Our ground-floor Gulf-front room was huge, had a concrete deck with two lounge chairs and was four steps from the sand. Awesome! It was a bit musty (common with beach properties) and the sliding glass doors had no screen or lock (other than the security bar). The all-male front desk staff felt a bit odd, and the evening shift said they had no computer access to print a boarding pass for us. Odd - right? Additionally, they couldn't figure out how to split charges onto two credit cards. The location is great, a shopping center with a Publix grocery, CVS pharmacy and other essential stores is right across the street.

The hotel was ok. Nothing fancy but for the price we paid it was a bargain.
Location great as was service but the food at the restaurant must have been the worst we have ate ever.
Overall the price/ quality was great!

Team Finland

Room Tip: Don´t eat at the restaurant.

My family and I stayed at the Dolphin Beach Resort and initially were worried based on some reviews we read, but since the price and location were reasonable and they had a room last minute we went for it. The hotel is older and doesn't look like much from the front, but the beach is AMAZING! Beautiful and clean white sands and the ocean view buildings sit right on the beach. The pool is nice, but if it's crowded you'll have a hard time finding a chair. The oceanfront bar also serves food and that was nice and the food was good and reasonably priced. The room was a good size and included a good size mini-fridge and microwave which was great because you have groceries within walking distance and can save a bit. The room was big and it looked as if they had upgraded the furnishings, but the only negative is the bathroom. The sink is outside the door, but the room with toilet and shower is TINY. So tiny that you have to step in a certain way to be able to swing the door back. If you are looking for a modern resort then this isn't your place, but if you want nice people and a laid back place on a beautiful beach then try it.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are right on the beach. In my opinion they are the best rooms. Ground floor would g...

Had a short notice one night stay on a weekend and it was easy and fast. Used booking service, they upgraded me to a king suite which is very nice. Place was dated a bit, but pool was nice and location great. Was able to walk to the grocery store, and to Crabby Bills for dinner. Beach access nice, pool area was nice, they have a beach bar with music on weekends. Bar was great for the evening, and restaurant food was good. Resort has all you need, and I had a great price. Wifi was very good everywhere I used it.

Room Tip: Ask for King suite upgrade as they are very nice.

Found this great hotel resort and will stay again anytime we are in the area. The beach is wonderful, the pool and bar are great. Staff is very friendly. Get a downstairs room to walk right out onto the sand.

Room Tip: Choose the beach front floor level to enjoy walking from your room onto the sand
