“Our stay at Bluegreen Tradewinds”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

Our stay at Bluegreen Tradewinds was less than expected. The timeshare rooms do not compare to any other resort that we have visited. They were clean and updated and the resort has lots of nice but very pricey restaurants, a great fitness center, 4 pools, and a variety of snack bars etc. the 1 bedroom condo unit was just two hotel rooms with the door between. All they did was remove the beds from one of the rooms and replace them with a sofa and chair and called it a one bedroom condo unit. There was only a mini fridge and mini microwave, no washer/dryer in the unit, and only 2 working washing machines and 1 working dryer for the entIre floor. ( $2 per wash load and $2 per dry load). The toilet seat was broken and took two calls to get it repaired. The shower knob was broken ( couldn't adjust the water temp). Trash had not been removed from previous guests. We probably won't return to this Bluegreen Tradewinds hotel. Our view was of an extremely ugly rooftop and parking lot.

Room Tip: I wouldn't take a room unless guaranteed an ocean or garden/pool view.

Carol1348, Thank you for the positive comments regarding the overall resort. However, please accept my apologies for the cleanliness of your room and the two separate maintenance issues you experienced while here. BlueGreen Vacations is a very successful business partner of TradeWinds, with the objective of providing superior service to grow and share our customer base. Your comments are important to us and each have been forwarded for further review.
Thank you.

I was really looking forward to a pleasant stay but this hotel is a mega resort which is really busy and they do not have the facilities to support the number of people staying there. The pools are tiny and so overcrowded it is hard to find a spot for yourself. You are unable to relax by the pool as its so crowded and everyone is clustered together.

They have a huge beach slide which the kids loved and have to say so did I.

The beach front is large and I suggest you book a cabana online the night before so its reserved for you the following day.

The place is old and needs to be refurbished. Guests expect a decent level of service when you are paying $250 a night + $35 resort fees. This hotel does not justify what it charges. The marketing material is out of a blue chip hotel brochure however in reality the service is motel class. It seems like the whole resort is fragmented buildings and then they have tried to combine this into one resort under the Tradewinds Umbrella.

Staff do not seem to be friendly and do not acknowledge or say hello when passing guests.

Then you get phone calls trying to sell you timeshare at this place early in the morning. I hung up and made sure I left the phone off the hook. I queried this and was told it was not the hotel that calls but another company.

Checkout is at 10.00am and they clearly warn you that if you leave later than this there is a $20 a hour charge. So be aware. However housekeeping started banging on the room door at 9.00am advising that its checkout day. Yes we know there is no need to be so intrusive. I really resent this kind of behaviour.

The beach is really nice and they have many activities but the ones included within the resort fee seems to be busy.

The location of the place is what is keeping the place alive. However I truly believe that with the right Management staff and a overhaul of the facilities this would be a much better resort.

We took our 3 and 7 year olds to the resort for one last beach vacation prior to school starting. TradeWinds was great and very kid friendly. Unfortunately, the 3 year old is too young for the kids club, but my 7 year old daughter loved the bungee trampolines and the waterpark in the Gulf. The activities during the day were a lot of fun and the various restaurants were good. Breakfast at Bermuda's worked very well although the warm entrees need work. We ended up quite happy doing the continental breakfast buffet most days. Our suite was great with a private bedroom seperate from the living area. We would definitely return.

Room Tip: I would not get a room too close to the main pool as it will be rather noisy.

We loved the beach, the cabanas, the nice blue beach towels and the best was the water park and all the water sports for children and adults. Looking forward to going back. One word of advice if you decide to buy the value package you may not be able to use all your vouchers because everything is based on the weather and if you don't use them they do not give you any credit for a next visit.

Room Tip: We had Gulf Front Parlor room beautiful view of the beach and pooll but third floor and above would...

I will start by saying the beach is beautiful! The cabanas are comfortable. You get one free one with your room unless you want the front row then there is a charge. We got two cabanas front row each day and it was great! Upon arrival we were warned about sting rays in the ocean. Apparently someone had been stung that day. I got in the water very few times because every time a sting ray swam right by me. Super disappointed, but not the hotels fault. Everything else about this "resort" I would pass on. Check in was a long line and 2 people working the desk. You get your parking permit at a separate desk. This desk is the time share desk and the first thing they want is to know when you would like to attend their presentation for a discount on everything. We did not sign up for a time. We picked this hotel because of the water play stuff and beach slide. So glad I didn't prepay for anything!! We did 1 session on ocean equipment and after 45 min everyone was looking at the time to see how much longer because they were bored. Rode the beach slide two times. Long lines. We have a pool so that is never a big thing for us on vacation and we did not swim. In walking by the pools they are all super small (think large hot tub for a some of them) and super crowded! The water had a layer of sunscreen floating on top. Looked gross. We rode the paddle boats once. The water is dyed deep green. Our room was small. One small window facing toward courtyard. The 2 beds were not queen size. They were doubles. Not very comfortable. The air conditioner was very loud. You could hear the air conditioner in the room next door. We spent the day at the beach. Came back to the room to find it had not been cleaned. No towels etc. Called the desk still not cleaned until the next day around 1pm. We ate lunch on property a couple of times. We left every night for dinner. We had a rental car so went to Johns Pass. Would totally recommend Johns Pass. The parking lot was so full when returning around 10pm that you are forced to valet if nothing is open. We stayed 5 days and 4 nights. We would have left a day early if we could have gotten our flight changed. On a positive, Manager Skyler was very friendly and helpful.

I stayed last week & was disappointed. Other than swimming, we didn't have much to do. Kids wanted more, especially when it rained. Activities were a bit pricey. A shark tooth necklace was $7 (included 12 beads, string & tooth). The shopping area was 20 minutes away & a $30 cab ride each way. We were 7,it was $120 plus tip. The shopping area was sparse & no kid friendly restaurants. Staff was friendly. A single stall bathroom in the pool area was ridiculous. Long lines for women. I only counted 5 pools -unless I have to include the ones at Guy Harvey. There was a Publix & liquor store within walking distance which saved us $$. I wasn't impressed & won't be returning.

Room Tip: Try to be closer to pool area.

Great stay at the Tradewinds and a wonderful location. There was also excellent service provided by Besim Sylisufad. Our room needed maintenance and Besim was very attentive and provided us with complimentary drink tickets after he took care of us.
