“Our Favorite Place to Visit!”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

We have stayed at the Watergarden Inn at the Bay at least once a year for the last ten years. Our recent four day stay during the St. Pete Grand Prix served to remind us why we love this place so much. From the minute we check in, we feel like we are in a wonderful, welcoming, comfortable home. Bill and Wilder make us feel like they are happy to see us arrive and sad to see us leave. Their graciousness and care for their guests is second to none. We have always enjoyed the location, the beautifully appointed bedrooms, the lovely surroundings - but it is the "little touches" that really make the stay special - the yummy gourmet items at breakfast (we stopped at Fresh Market on the way home for the delicious fresh-made honey peanut butter), the always available k-cup coffees, teas and hot chocolate, and Bill's wonderful sense of humor! We truly feel like the Watergarden Inn at the Bay is our "second home". Thank you Bill and Wilder!

What a perfect stay in downtown St. Pete! The Watergarden Inn is well-kept and most welcoming with amicable hosts Wilder and Bill, who take pride in their bed and breakfast and it's returning guests. Rooms are well furnished and comfortable. The lush gardens complete with swimming pool are a relaxing spot for morning coffee or sipping wine, both of which we enjoyed. Breakfast is an tasty assortment of fresh berries, cereals, yogurt, pastries, juices, and a great selection of coffee/teas, including freshly brewed cappuccino. Best of all is the location! A safe, easy walk to the Dali and Chihuly museums, the Vanoy, and the vibrant bay front, which offers excellent restaurants and trendy shops. The downtown trolly (50 cents) is a fun way to learn the history of the buildings as you ride the loop. It also stops at the Dali Museum. We loved our stay at the Watergarden Inn and exploring the 'new' St. Pete. Highly recommended!

I didn't have much time to enjoy this wonderful B & B as I was attending a wedding and was in and out. My room was comfortable, beautiful and very relaxing. The owners were extremely pleasant and very accommodating. I would definitely recommend the Watergarden Inn - it is a beautiful, relaxing place to enjoy while visiting St. Petersburg. I hope I have the chance to visit again!

I enjoyed three lovely days in downtown St Pete. The Inn was charming and run by wonderful people. Although not warm enough to swim, it has a lovely pool and gardens. One block from the bay and downtown. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Pelican room. A great king size bed. Sunshine in the afternoon in case you are a...

A true gem in St Petersburg, close to all, restaurants, museums, shopping, waterfront and easy access off the inter state but tucked away from the crowds. (They also have a private parking lot next to Inn a true benefit in St. P.
The Inn keepers are bright helpful people with a eye for decorating looking to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
If your planning a stay in St. Pet do not miss this opportunity.

Stayed here for a week in February. The owners are very friendly and make you feel at home. A nice, basic continental breakfast is served every morning. The new in-ground pool is nice and relaxing. A couple blocks to the downtown area makes this B & B a great location. Bill and WIlder are great hosts.

My husband and I have stayed in numerous B&B inns through the years and Watergarden Inn at the Bay is by far one of the nicest we have encountered. They are security conscious and keep the doors locked at all times. Once you check in, you are given an access code for entering the premises thereafter.

Wilder and Bill are gracious hosts and are very helpful in providing ideas of things to do in the area. They even gave me hotel ideas for trip I am planning in the near future.

We stayed in the Lighthouse Room, which I found to be even more charming than the pictures on the web site. It had plenty of space, it was comfortable, and it was beautifully decorated. However, if you don't like climbing stairs, it would be better to choose a different room on one of the lower floors, but if you are like us and don't mind, this room is the perfect retreat.

The inn is on a fairly quiet street; the traffic sounds were more like white noise in the background. There were no rowdy, people sounds like one would encounter in Miami. In other words, we had a good night's sleep. If you've read any of my other reviews, you know that a quiet room is more important to me than any other characteristic.

The Inn is in a perfect location. You can park your car in the paved lot (not the gravel one adjacent to it) at the back of the inn and for the most part leave it until you are ready to go home. There are ample museums/galleries and restaurants within walking distance to keep you busy for a few days. If you want to go farther afield, Bill and Wilder are kind enough to provide ideas for an outing.

The continental breakfast was plentiful. They offer all manner of breads and sweet rolls and have quiche on the weekends. Also, they provide fresh fruit, several cereals, and yogurt. They also have a nice cappuccino/espresso maker.

If we return to St. Petersburg, we will definitely stay with Bill and Wilder again.

Tip: Check-in time at The Watergarden is 3:00PM. My husband and I caught a late flight down from the northeast and didn't get into Tampa airport until about 10:00PM. Therefore, we stayed at an airport hotel that first night, got up late, and had breakfast. Then we had time to go to The Florida Aquarium, which is just a short distance from the airport. The aquarium was wonderful and I highly recommend it. By the time we finished at the aquarium, had lunch, and got stuck in a traffic jam due to an accident, we made it to Water-garden around 3:00, which was perfect timing for checking in.

Room Tip: Lighthouse Room is at the top of the house and is quiet and private.
