I ended up with this hotel through hotwire and was very pleased. Room was comfortable with lots of pillows. Bathroom was a bit small but had everything I needed including lots of hot water. Nice little bar in the lobby to get a drink before dinner. I would stay here again.

It is what is. A "boutique" hotel that is a historic property renovated more or less to modern standards. Exposed pipes, tiny bathroom, low water pressure and water that never got past lukewarm. Room was musty, and windows were sealed shut so the room couldn't be aired out. I had a room on the second floor. On that floor, there were a number of steps going up and down in the hallways, definitely a challenge for the disabled or those with heavy luggage. The front desk seemed understaffed and challenged, though well-meaning. On the plus side, the location is convenient to downtown and most everything is walking distance. I would definitely explore other options the next time I come to St. Petersburg.

A unique step back to the 1920s from 2014. CUTE room with enough but no extra space...smallish bathroom but large shower. That's what you expected in 1920! Pleasant staff. $14/day valet parking. We will return. If u want everyday go elsewhere.

Pros:
-Good location
-Clean rooms

Cons:
-Below average fitness amenities (no free weights)
-No Platinum Elite member benefits offered
-Tiny bathrooms
-House cleaning knocked on our door and interrupted our rest when we had the "Do Not Disturb" sign on

Once again, IHG proves themselves to be the worst among all hotel rewards programs (the best being Hilton from personal experience). No free breakfast, no free water, no in-room snacks. Nada.

I also had a disappointing check-in experience with the front Manager, who was on the phone at the time of my check-in. He acknowledged that I was standing there and waiting for him to finish his call, but looked irritated and snappy when I waited for 10 minutes and asked him "Excuse me, are you available to help me with my reservation?" (forgot the Manager's name, but he had grey hair slicked backwards, wore a maroon colored shirt with glasses).

Hi EthanGYT,

Thank you very much for your feedback. We always take these notes and continue to improve the guest experience.

We do offer a welcome amenity to our IHG Rewards Members, and one option is a complimentary water or drink from our grab n go or cookies or chips from the front desk. I apologize if you did not receive this. In addition, we always try our best to upgrade our IHG Rewards Members when possible.

We truly do apologize about any service issues and please know that we are addressing them here internally. Your comments will serve as a great training tool to make sure we are keeping our most important asset, you, the guest, on the forefront of our mind always.

Thanks again,

Pro: Got the Hotel Indigo for 4 nights for mom at a great price. She loved the location, said it was immaculate and the room was very comfortable for her. Décor is quirky as noted, but I thought it was cute. And yes, the rooms and bathrooms are small – but that’s normal for older properties, and a reasonable trade-off for the great location.

Con (or odd): Two interactions with the same person at the front desk had mom scratching her head. One day, she asked for change for a $20, and was told they don’t have any cash. Then she notices a guy working the bar complete a sale to another guest and handing them change… Yet the front desk person doesn’t suggest that mom ask at the bar...?

The next day, she asked “the best way to get to the Dali.” The same employee gave mom the impression she wasn’t sure where it was or that mom’s question was odd. She explains how to walk there and Mom says, no, I want a trolley, and the woman says, “Oh, you can walk – it’s not far!” Well, mom didn’t want to walk - it's at least a mile. She gave up, started walking and finds a trolley stop less than a block away. It’s only 25¢ for seniors, narrated tour included. A great deal, and something one reasonably could expect a hotel front desk to know - and to share if asked.

So they could improve “concierge” services. Perhaps a hand out for guests with a little map, trolley stops indicated, museums or other highlights…?? Anyway, that aside, mom really liked the hotel and would happily stay there again.

Very disappointed when I drove up to the hotel. This place is in dire need of updating. Bathrooms are extremely small, large gaps between your hotel room door and the hallway. Valet only parking which cost me another $14 + tax. For $200/night, this was not what I was expecting. Thankfully I was there only 2 nights.

Room Tip: I would suggest another hotel.

Hi MDGreek,

Thank you very much for your feedback. We always appreciate hearing from our guests. I can assure you that we have taken note of your comments. We are going to be going through a "refresh" this year and know that will address some updating needs. Also, we are planning on creating a "parking package" as we completely understand your concern there. We hope that you will give Hotel Indigo another try in the future and thanks again.

We stayed at the Hotel Indigo for two nights, including New Year’s Eve. The primary advantage is its location, which is within easy walking distance of all the restaurants, shops, and museums along the bay front. The hotel staff members were extremely nice. The hotel itself is a little quirky, with small rooms and bathrooms and only one small elevator that reminded me of some older hotels in Europe. Carrying luggage to the rooms is not very convenient since, for some reason, each floor has a lower center section with stairs up to the higher level on each end. Anyway, you can’t just roll your luggage to most rooms. Overall, the hotel provided a very good location, fair value, and a pleasant overall experience. We would stay there again.
