Deciding to spend a day away from the beach and out of the sun, we chose the Chihuly Collection. Went with our daughter who lives in the area. The collection is not large at this location but includes many amazing works. Brilliant colors and lighting. Then when finished looking at the collection we found it interesting to go to the "HOT SHOP" to witness glass works being made. An interesting display.

We stopped in to check out the collection knowing zero about Chihuly. We hemmed and hawed about the price and finally decided to buy the tickets. It was 3 of us. There was a large group in front of us so the woman at the from desk suggested we go through backwards. It was the best advice and I would suggest that others do the same. The difference is: The collection is blown glass. It is striking and the pieces are very large for the most part. Unless you know a lot about his work, seeing the glass is interesting and beautiful, but you have no idea what went into creating it. Going through backwards, there is a video that is lengthy.. Id say maybe an hour. It is broken up into shorter segments and each describes how each particular piece was envisioned and engineered. I had no idea! Wow! After watching the videos, we proceeded to tour the collection with a new perspective.. I guess doing it the other way you might have an ahah moment, but back of our group was happy we did it backwards! Go see this collection, you will not see another like it.

We thought this was a very nice museum. Not a huge display of Dale Chihuly's works. But very impressive with what he could do as a glass blowing artist. From very small pieces to one that takes up an entire room, showing all the colors of the rainbow. Also there is a small movie at the end of the tour. And included with the price of admission to the collection is a visit across the street to Hot Shop. For a live demonstration of the glass blowing process

Be sure to see this exhibit when you are in the area. Going through with a docent or guide is the best way to really appreciate all the beauty.
