So this is the best deal in St. Pete I could find at the time I booked, and there are some mixed reviews on the place. It's an older building, with an older style and you have to have that in mind. This isn't some grand hotel with all the comforts. What it is though, is a comfy, friendly and quite place. We were greeted and treated warmly, the room was clean, and the breakfast was about what I expected for the size of the hotel. Go with the right mindset and you'll have a wonderful time.

Hello and thank you very much for your nice review! We are happy you enjoyed your stay at our inn, but we also would like you to know that we appreciate the time and effort that goes into these reviews. Everyone lives a busy life these days, and while it is easy to sit down to write about a negative experience, it never seems as pressing a matter to write about a positive one. So thank you for your time and we truly hope to welcome you back to our inn during your next trip to St. Pete.

Sincerely,

Stephanie & Brian Cox

My husband and I booked our stay for 2 nights after a cruise. We were visiting our son and family for Mother's Day and thought it would be nice to give them a break from having to worry about accommodating us. It was perfect. Saturday night my hubby and son and grandson went to a Rays game and daughter-in-love and I did the check in thing. The owner and staff were very friendly and the location was perfect. We walked to the restaurants in downtown St. Pete. It is an old building, but for the price you can't beat it. My only complaints were with the bed and parking. The parking lot is shared with a beautiful church and the owners of the hotel have a deal with the church that they won't use it on Saturday night. Parking on the street was a bit scary for me, but we didn't have any problems. The mattress and box spring on the double bed was very uncomfortable. I would suggest new beds - maybe even queen size. All in all, it was a great experience and we will definitely stay there again.

Sunny greetings from St. Pete!

Thank you for your nice review. We appreciate your comments and would like to touch base on a few.

Parking on Saturday nights: Our parking spaces are owned by the church next door, so it is not us letting them use our spaces, but vice versa. Sunday mornings only, from 8 am to noon, we have to make these spaces available for church services. Our alternate parking options, which we advise our guest of at check-in, are the free street parking spaces as well a bank parking lot across the street. We personally have parked our private cars on street for 9 years without any incidents.

In regards to your comment on mattresses, we only have two guest rooms with a full size mattress. All others are queens and a few with 2 twins. Mattress comfort is such a personal preference. While one guest likes the mattress firm, the next prefers soft. It's a tough one to please everyone.

With this said, we are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay nonetheless and look forward to welcoming you back soon!

Sincerely,

Stephanie & Brian Cox

If you're looking for a grande hotel with all the amenities this is not the place. However it is an adorably quaint little hotel with very friendly staff!! The rooms are small but comfortable and there's an old world feel to every aspect. Antiques are found throughout, old photographs line the hallways and they offer a social hour with a complimentary beverage and snack. There are also tons of restaurants within walking distance. I am very pleased! I already have another reservation in a few weeks to stay with my husband while we're back in town.

We stayed one night at the Americas Best Inn in St Pete last month, and it was a nice moment of our trip in Florida.
The owners are so friendly and helpful. They made an effort and had for us (we're french) some words in our native langage and we really appreciated !! It was very nice. If you have some questions, they are very pleased to help you.
When we arrived for check-in, it was the happy hours and during that time, they offer to their customers drinks and snacks.
This hotel is like a GuestHouse :-) You feel at home (their advertising says "Home away from home" and it's true !!!)
Our room was so cute, so elegant ... except the bathroom. It was clean but our bathroom was so old, especially the shower (the bath isn't white anymore ... and I guess for ages !!)
And when the hotel is full, you have to wake up early in order to have a sit for taking your breakfast in the lobby.
Not a lot of things to do closer to that place (except the pier and of course, the Dali Museum which is great !!)

Bonjour and greetings from St. Pete!

Thank you very much for your wonderful review of your recent stay at our inn. We truly appreciate it and are very happy to hear you enjoyed our hospitality!

Yes our bathtubs are no longer sparkling white, they are the original bathtubs from 1937, when the inn was built. No amount of scrubbing and chemicals will ever make them look new again. It adds to the character of the inn though, as we try to keep as many things original as possible. For example our beautiful bathroom floor tiles.

Breakfast can get busy on nights that we are very well booked. But even on mornings after a not so busy night, if everyone comes down for breakfast at the same time, there can be a wait for a table. The most busy time during breakfast is just around 9 am :)

Things to do, things to do? There are plenty of things to do in St. Pete. Besides the Pier (which is currently closed) and the Salvador Dali Museum you can also visit the Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of History, the Chihuly Gallery, the Florida Holocaust Museum and many more art galleries. In addition to that, our very own Tampa Bay Rays would love to welcome you to a home game at Tropicana Field. Friday nights St. Pete Shuffle invites for free shuffle boarding, music and fun. Ghost tours, Segway tours, horse drawn carriage rides and the Downtown Trolley help you explore St. Pete. Enjoy exploring on foot? Our gorgeous waterfront offers miles of trails along the water. Besides all this, you will find many great restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars throughout downtown, so you won't go hungry while on your little St. Pete adventure. All this in walking distance of our inn. A short car ride will take you to Sunken Gardens, a botanical garden as well as several beautiful nature preserves all right here in St. Pete.

As you now can see, you must come back to St. Petersburg one day as there is much, much more for you to explore.

Thank you again very much for choosing to stay with us!

All the best to you!

This hotel generally has rave reviews so I thought I would add another perspective. The location of the hotel is great, being only walking distance from the waterfront, and with parking directly alongside (but not on Sundays). The cost of accommodation was modest, and our hostess, Stephanie, was welcoming and friendly.

The negatives:
It may not suit some travellers to be accommodated on the upper floor, as there are no elevators.
Our bedroom was of a good size and contained some unusual furniture. Unfortunately, the usable space in the room was somewhat limited. In addition, some people may find cracks in the ceiling and plaster to be cute, but we thought it showed a need for maintenance.
The bed was the most uncomfortable of our trip so far, with a COD ("Come over darling") sag in the middle.
We were probably unlucky, but on the night we stayed there were a few wild cars, a motor bike, and consequently some police cars creating a disturbance around town until after 1 am. (Not too unusual for a central city location.)
The continental breakfast was not up to the standard of other places we have stayed.

Sunny greetings to Australia!!!

First of all we would like to thank you for your review on tripadvisor.com as well as having chosen to stay with us during your stay in St. Pete.

Before I go on, we'd greatly appreciate you getting in touch with us and letting us know which room you stayed in. All of our mattresses are less than 7 years old and there should be no sagging in the middle what so ever. Knowing which room this bed is in will help us fix any issues and if necessary have the mattress replaced.

All of our guestrooms have been redone at least twice in the 9 years we've owned the inn. It is an old building and sometimes cracks, which we have repaired in the past, will reappear over time. A handful of our rooms are up for a mini remodel over the course of the summer with the goal of having all of them looking great again soon.

In regards to a noisy night, it was truly bad luck. Downtown St. Pete tends to be quiet at night time, so while most nights are peaceful it is never a guarantee. Like you said, one must remember that we are in a downtown city location.

Breakfast - We advertise and serve a continental breakfast, though our offerings go beyond the usual continental breakfast standards. A continental breakfast in the US (and most countries) typically consists of coffee, donuts or other pastry and juice. Even though we are very limited on what we can serve (we do not have a restaurant license so may only offer items that are individually packaged by the manufacturer) we do believe that we offer a nice variety to choose from. We've touched on this in a previous response but for any interested travelers will gladly list what we do offer: Coffee, tea, hot cocoa mix, bagels, muffins, variety of danishes, variety of cereals and oatmeals, yoghurt, cream cheese, butter, jelly, milk, orange juice as well as bananas and oranges/clementines.

Once again, thank you for staying with us and for taking the time for this write up. And please, a quick email to info@abistpete.com to let us know which room we accommodated you in would be greatly appreciated.

We wish you happy travels!

Sincerely,

Stephanie & Brian Cox

My husband and I stayed at this boutique hotel over Mother's Day weekend. The Inn keepers, Brian and Stephanie, were very gracious and personable creating a very happy and memorable stay. The room was larger than I thought. It was very clean and neat. Any questions I had very answered immediately. They were helpful with luggage, etc. There was attention to detail. I would recommend this hotel. We asked for a first floor room because there is no elevator in this historic hotel. We were accommodated with a pleasant, quiet first floor room. The location is perfect for walking downtown for restaurants and a walk along the bay.

We've stayed in St. Petersburg a number of times, trying different botique hotels. The positive reviews and the great price decided for us. Now, we want to add our thanks for a great stay. The owners were most personable; the room was larger than in many of the small botique hotels; the free beer and wine at happy hour was a plus, as well as the $2.00 price thereafter. Slept so very well--not a sound reached our room. Clean, well-striped parking lot immediately adjacent. Easy in and out of town from I-275. And easy walk to restaurants downtown. We'll be back.

Pay close attention to Map Quest or other directions so not confused by One-Way and same numbered Streets and Avenues. .
