“Great location, very nice hotel”
Reviewed 12 June 2005

I like Hampton Inns and this one didn't disappoint. Right downtown near the Pier and Baywalk, across from a park and trolley stop. Nice architecture blends with local area instead of being an ugly box. Staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast pretty good, room comfy and kid-friendly (although my daughter reports that the sofa bed was droopy....can't anyone make a decent sofabed, even in a new hotel?) Would stay there again, absolutely.

The nicest hotel in downtown St. Pete is the Vinoy -- a luxury hotel where rooms can cost hundreds of dollars a night. Surprisingly, despite the existence of many major chains, the Hampton Inn is actually the second nicest hotel. In fact, I'm not even sure why this is a Hampton since its service and quality are equal to or greater than a Hilton Garden or full Hilton nameplate. I ran a conference in St. Pete and couldn't get my attendees in at the nearby St. Pete Hilton -- it was booked solid. The Hampton Inn was available and they negotiated an attractive rate (although probably higher than you might think is appropriate for a Hampton Inn -- but trust me -- this is not a regular Hampton Inn). All my attendees were VERY pleased with the hotel and its facilities. The location is by far the best place it could possibly be in St. Pete -- on Tampa Bay, and a block or two to every major tourist attraction, shopping, museum, restaurant and bar. The staff was glad to accomodate any request (and we had several for our meetings). And even the typical Hampton Inn continental breakfast was a cut above regular Hampton Inn food. You may find this hotel a bit pricey when you see the Hampton Inn nameplate, but see for yourself -- you'll be staying at a very nice hotel.

This hotel is beautiful, and in a great location. However, there is one side of the building that should be avoided! We stayed in room 210 (South). This is the ONLY side of the hotel where your view will be an apartment building within 10 feet of your windows, with no sunlight, and people looking into your room. You have to keep your drapes closed for privacy, and/or dress in the bathroom. MAKE SURE you ask for the burgandy book which shows property layouts, and request either East facing Tampa Bay, North entrance, or West Pool. Otherwise you will be disappointed, and they made us wait two nights before moving us for the final two. Then they put us in the best of house, Room 430. The BEST.
Ask for Tiffany, the AGM, or Karl, if any problems. Don't take the front desk staff's word on anything. Stand up for yourself if unhappy.
Hampton is a 100% satisfaction chain. Once moved we were happy. The museum, and food choices are close by, housekeeping staff superb, and kind. Valet service great, except for one night where they left our vehicle unlocked on the street with no one around. Will stay again.

The staff at the Hampton Inn and Suites St. Pete's were so attentive, I had to write about it. We stayed there over our Xmas holidays. The rooms are new and large with nice amenities! Granite counters, mini-fridge with freezer, and good location. The service from the moment we stepped out of our car was amazing. Friendly and helpful, they greeted you every time you left the hotel and offered tourist advice and directions. Little extras like free cookies at the counter were nice too! The concierge went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and the breakfast next morning (included!) was also very good. Ending our vacation here was nice, as it was a relaxing experience. Located on the waterfront with walking paths, marina and close to Baywalk shopping/entertainment.
