Although the ticket price allows you to visit the Morean Arts Center, the Chihuly collection, and witness a demonstration at the hot shop, we only had enough time for one of the locations. Luckily, the ticket is valid for the other two locations if you come later in the month. We decided to attend the demonstration at the glass studio. Through a 30min presentation, you are able to witness all stages of glass work, from pulling the melted glass from the oven, to blowing it, shaping it, and finally cooling it. It was truly fascinating. The place also offers workshop and classes. Good place to visit in St Pete.

The Morean Art Center is a place for art, clay, and glass classes for kids, families, adults, and groups. The Center hosts various exhibitions, and is the permanent home to a special collection of Chihuly glass. I waited for about five minutes to catch a guided tour and heard a lot of interesting details and back-stories about Chihuly's life and his journey to glassblowing. There are see some examples of his early work which show his love for the Northwest where he grew up. All of the other pieces except one were made specifically for the Center's exhibit. (The gigantic blue chandelier was commissioned for a private buyer who later donated it to the collection) There are intricate details in the lighting and placement of the pieces, as well as in the glasswork itself. This glass display is not huge, but it is powerful! You can buy a combination ticket for the exhibit and the glassblowing center. (The location is across the street from a marina, and it is a lovely setting).

If you're a Chihuly fan, you should make this a stop on your trip. Gorgeous glasswork and a great store where you can purchase Chihuly's work. You can even take photos in the museum. Definitely worth the price of admission!

A wonderful art experience for any and all art lovers. Every second Saturday the Center is open during the art walk and you can get a taste of what there is to see if you were to delve into the offerings of this eclectic Center. Truly another reason St Pete is an afternoon of evening delight.

Took my first glass blowing experience with David Spurgeon. Had a wonderful time and it made me want more-can't wait to take the full class! The instructor was very patient and very thorough when explaining each step... Thank you to the Morean Arts Center for offering this awesome experience!
