We had a lot of friends visiting us from up north, depends on the snow depth, more snow up north more friends visit Florida. In winter we are in the seventies or so and our friends from Bismarck ND, told us when they left it was -23. YUK.
Most of the week we ate out since they stayed at a hotel near the beach, Two adults two kids and not enough room in my condo. And my condo being a six story high-rise under Florida law does not permit grills of any kind on the terrace, electric, hibachi, coal, gas or nuclear. I live on top, no grilling....
So we met them for dinners and since they are carnivores, we went to three "Steak Places" over six days, (National named chains) meat was what they preferred, two places were utter disappointments.
Just average nothing I could rave about, salads pre-chilled in the coolers, tips of the lettuce turning brown, I walked out, we got undersized steak, small potatoes, with that nice un-stuffed "Where's the real beef" feeling.
Finally, I got to pick CODY's and it was night and day. I have eaten there several times and the original store off the beach on PARK street for ten years and it is still the best in the small chain in affordable meat dinning.
The funny part is many of the locals eat there in deference to the other chains. CODY's and the LONGHORN on East Bay are my favorites. I have never gotten a bad meal at either place and I have closer places for a Steak but I'll drive further for quality.
Salad was fresh broken not cut, cold, the meat, nice Rib-eye was beautiful, the beer cold, and the potato stuffed, My partner had her Salmon, her favorite.
Our friends agreed, I'll pick the places to eat.
