Our condo was beautifully decorated with modern furniture. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the beach is amazing. The water is so warm and you can walk about 200 feet out before it gets deep. We had such a great stay at Siesta on the beach and we hope to come back!

Usually stay in unit 608, but it was already booked so stayed in 503 instead. Only thing that would make this unit better inside would be ceiling fans in the guest bedroom and out on the balconies, but otherwise a fantastic unit and management is great! Wish the unit had better beach chairs and maybe a few inner tubes for floating in the ocean as well.

Quick three night stay mid July 2014. Being able to book just three nights was one of the reasons we chose Sanibel Siesta (the remaining week of our vacation was in Orlando / WDW).

We had unit 601 which is gulf front. Very nicely appointed unit, could tell that it was recently updated. Plenty of room for my family of 5 (2 adults, 2 late teens, and one toddler) to relax. Just steps from the beach. Unit had a garage for parking plus beach chairs, beach toys etc.

Thoughtful touches inside the unit included a book library, board games, and DVD's.

Since we only had three days in Sanibel (really two.....since we had a flight delay the first day), we did not get a chance to explore the entire area......but in general, it is a beautiful area that I would like to return to. And if we do, we would definitely have the Sanibel Siesta on our list of places to stay.

Room Tip: unit 601 very clean and up to date

Stayed in unit 103, would have loved some ceiling fans. The sliding doors were off the tracks and difficult to open, can tell that this is an ongoing issue as the "locks" had the screws coming out. The beach chairs were outdated and one broke due to a rusted out part. We went out one night and didn't have a space to park in when we came back. Bathrooms are small, but loved the shower heads. Had to watch our towel usage as we were not going to pay $19.50 for a restock. Keeping the thermostat at 74 made the rooms a bit hot at night after the beach.
The kitchen was stocked nicely, the faucet made it easier to clean off the dishes. Beds were comfortable. Great location to the beaches. Love the idea of having a kitchen as it saves from having to go out for every meal, worth paying more for a condo for that aspect.

We stayed here the last full week of June. We requested an ocean front, which we got. The location was perfect. we were so close to the beach.
This was our eighth trip to Sanibel Island. We usually stay at the Sundial, but they were booked, so we tried Sanibel Siesta because of being rated #1 on tripadvisor.
We are used to daily maid service. That is not offered here. You are responsible for taking your trash down yourself. If you stay for more than a week you are able to exchange your towels for fresh ones on Tuesday. That process is silly. You take your dirty linens down to the office and they are exchanged one at a time for clean ones.
Upon entering unit 604 we could smell raid. I had to open the doors to get the small to go away. That night and the following, we saw why. A 'waterbug' or 'palmento bug'..also known as a roach ran across the kitchen floor. My 15 year old saw it the second night there. She had never seen one before. She was quite upset and wanted to leave the unit at 2 in the morning. We didn't see it again. The office did offer to send someone up to spray...more about that later.
The vertical blinds in the unit where in bad shape. When I closed them on the first evening, several of them fell off-they had been scotch taped on!! We slept with 6 inches of daylight pouring in every morning.
The sliding glass doors where corroded-especially in the bedroom. They were difficult to open and close. When it would storm the wind whistled through the doors.
The sleeper sofa in the living room smelled of urine. Fortunately there where only 3 of us so we did not have to use it.
There was a dirty used band-aid on the closet floor.
The pots and pans in the kitchen where scraped badly on the bottom (non-stick teflon). No one should use them. The pasta pot had rust in it. The utensil tray was filthy, there was moist food in it. The pot holders had dried food on them.Several of the glasses were dirty, we ran everything we would use through the dishwasher. The unit was dirty!!
The Sanibel Siesta uses keys, not cards for entry into the units. Anyone could make a copy of the keys...not very safe. It is a very outdated way of doing things.
The safe in our unit was broken. I did notify the office and was told a new one was on order. I was given a default code to use the safe...the office and recent tenants of the condo knew the code. I did not feel safe putting my valuables in it. I did not use it.
The microwave was dirty. It had sauce speckles in it.
The hall light flickered. We tried to tighten the bulb, it still flickered. We did not use it.
We tried to use a box fan we found in the bedroom closet. It did not work, we tried plugging it into several different outlets.
You are given a starter pack of supplies when you check in, after that you buy your paper products, soaps, dishwasher soap yourself. There is a note telling you when leaving to put all the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and have it running, also to take all of the trashes down.
We did make the office aware of seeing the "water bug". They offered to send someone up to spray. We said 'No thank you". I did not want to smell the raid again (I know what raid smells like), it makes me nauseous. With us not having a safe to lock up valuables, I did not want anyone in the condo while we where out and about.
Our unit was worn, it needed paint, and the sliding glass doors in the master bedroom replaced. The floors looked like the were new, the unit was decorated with a beach theme, which nice, but maybe a bit over done.
The bed in the master bedroom was to squishy for our comfort. Some might like that, but we prefer a firm mattress.
The one star that we gave was for the office staff, the couple times we dealt with them they were very friendly.
I think these condos are individually owned and rented out. I have seen pics of units that were updated and looked nice. I prefer to have daily maid service, fresh linens daily, we'll pay a little more for that. It's part of being on vacation.
I must say we still had a great week in Sanibel. We love the island. I guess we are spoiled after staying at the Sundial for all of our previous visits.
We won't return. Stay clear of unit 604 until it is updated.

Sanibel Siesta o, Manager at Sanibel Siesta on the Beach, responded to this reviewResponded 30 July 2014

As a manager I never like to hear someone did not enjoy staying at our property. All of us that work and own here take great pride in Sanibel Siesta and hope everyone will love it as much as we do. After looking at this reservation I realized that you had booked through a travel agency, and unfortunately when booking through a third party you do not get the individualized attention we like to give our guests. When booking directly with our office we take our time and make sure that each guest knows what to expect when they are staying with us. We are not a traditional hotel like Sundial. When you check into Sanibel Siesta on the Beach we check you into “Your Beach House” at a reasonable price for the area, we do not charge a $30.00 and up, a day resort fee to stay here. If anything arises like stated in this review we are on property and if you notify us we will address it immediately. As far as one bug being in the unit we cannot control that, we live in Florida everything thrives here. We do have a professional pest control company that comes in routinely and sprays the property and the units, we have never used raid, because of our diligence with pest control, bugs seen in the unit have had to fly in when a door was opened. We appreciate your feedback and have addressed all items mentioned in your review.

Stayed at this hotel with my family for a week. Convenient to the ocean, nice condo with very nice appliances and TV. Shopping and restaurants nearby. Great balconies and view of the water. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice pool and laundry facilities, and we enjoyed the barbecue stations. Wi-fi was more than adequate for connecting multiple devices. We would definitely consider staying here again.

We stayed in unit 307. It was just perfect for the four of us. The units are individually owned so some may be more elaborate than others. 307 was in just the right building for us. We could sit on the screened-in balcony and watch the children play in the pool. The stroll to the sand was short and having your own personal garage to store beach "stuff' in, made it easy. Having some toys and beach chairs available to us was a huge space/packing saver. The kitchen was well stocked and all we needed for the meals we choose to eat IN. (HINT: Buy food before you get on the island! The grocery prices are ridiculous.) The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. The staff was helpful and always friendly. The location is great, too. be sure to take advantage of the on-site bike rentals. The wonderful trails made biking the island easy and a pleasure. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Afternoon sun on the balconies of buildings 6,7,8 and morning sun on 3,4,5. There was some pool nois...
