Description: George & Wendy Schnapp both moved to Sanibel Island in 2002, George from Buffalo and Wendy from Chicagoland. They met on the island, fell in love and married in 2007. George has been in the restaurant business for over 30 years. Together they opened George & Wendy's Seafood Grille in 2011 to provide a place where locals and visitors could come and enjoy good food, drinks and entertainment. We are open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week offering an extensive menu sure to please any palate. The Chef and General Manager work together with their team to provide a welcoming dining experience for all. George and Wendy's Seafood Grille offers one of largest Hand-Crafted Cocktail menus on the islands, 20 beers on tap, an extensive wine list and a full liquor bar. Entertainment is provided most weekday evenings and weekends. Kid meals are served on a souvenir Frisbee to enjoy. T-Shirts, hats and local artwork are also available for purchase. We are open late for dinner and offer a late night dining menu as well. It's fun for the whole family.

“Coconut shrimp”
Reviewed 23 January 2013

Had lunch there and it was very good, real gulf shrimp, and no, mine did not seem to be split and cleaned, but they also were not dirty, great dipping sauce. Salad to accompany was excellent.

“Attentive service but dreadful food”
Reviewed 22 January 2013

We decided to try this place based on Tripadvisor reviews and it's the first bad decision we've made based on others' opinions. First the good news....we were quickly found a table by friendly staff. The place looks like a fairly nondescript diner. The artworks on the walls, presumably for sale having been painted by a local artist, were very colorful (we speculated on who might buy the huge oil and glitter sea creature canvases ....).

Our order was taken very quickly by Torry who was super-friendly. We were brought drinks then bread and dip, shortly followed by our starters. These were actually ok, apart from the portion sizes which were huge. My husband had tomato and mozzarella and i had chicken dippers with a Thai dip. While still eating our starters, a different waiter brought our main courses. This is really where we decided this wasn't a place to recommend or return to.

I had prime rib and mashed potatoes and my husband the surf and turf. These were a matter of quantity over quality. The plates looked a mess. Too much food. The surf and turf had some sort of gravy which made the meat and seafood look totally unappealing. Our mashed potatoes looked almost grey and had huge lumps in. The green beans tasted weird.

Neither of us ate much of the entree. My husband had coffee which came in a mug on a small plate - much of which was spilled as it was put on the table.

All in all, this was a very disappointing decision and felt a total waste of over $100.

“Great experience!”
Reviewed 22 January 2013

We went to George & Wendy's with our fresh catch of Gulf fish. They welcomed us and grilled our catch to perfection, also providing a choice of sides (we chose cole slaw and garlic smashed potatoes [Yum!!]). Our waiter, Torrey, was fun and friendly, charming and prompt -- good service. Atmosphere was that of a sports bar but with a more upscale feel, possibly because of how we perceived our visit overall. We liked it well enough that we'll go back and see if they do as well with their fish as they did with ours.

“Late Night Fun”
Reviewed 20 January 2013 via mobile

Most places on the island close early. This place stays open later and had an awesome band. We were able to get a late dinner as well. Definitely will be back!

“Just hit the spot”
Reviewed 19 January 2013 via mobile

Came here for lunch on Trip advisor's recommendation. Lovely warm day in January with my adult children. This place does not disappoint. We had fish tacos(blackened) fried shrimp tacos and fried grouper tacos plus a grouper Reuben all were cooked to perfection. Lightly breaded not greasy and each had a tiny spice.
We indulged in one piece of key lime pie. OMG sweet and tart and flavorful. 4forks and it was done. Yummy. We ll be back
