“Did you say water?”

The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club
Reviewed 22 May 2014

I am an avid golfer who has golfed around the world. This course presents more water than any other I've seen before. Hit them straight and take the right club or bring plenty of balls!! Awesome scenery. Excellent course.

I found the Dunes to be a well-maintained and managed golf/tennis/swim club, just over the causeway onto Sanibel Island. Rates were reasonable and they offer a variety of multi-day and monthly membership packages. Short (5600 yards), narrow, exacting course with water everywhere that rewards careful, precise shotmaking. Nice driving range (you hit into a lake, so you can get used to seeing the splash) and impeccable practice pitch-and-putting green. Bring your zoom-lens camera: all manner of subtropical wildlife on this Audubon-certified layout.

Wrote a review on Pointe Santo de Sanibel and included review of course. A little expensive, $115.00 for round but all 18 holes have water on them as the course is built around the lake. Plenty of photo ops. Well maintained course with small greens that were very consistent. You have to play it at least once.

We played at the Dunes in Feb 2014 and really enjoyed it. The course is in great condition and you need to be accurate with your shots because there is a lot of water! The only down side for us was to get the twilight rate you were not able to finish because it gets dark so early in February. We still enjoyed our round and will go back and play again. Highly recommend this course!

Great course, short but tough. Better be accurate and have some luck. I never lose a golf ball but on The Dunes I must have lost a dozen balls! Course is in great shape, starter is on top of his game, on Thursdays they start groups off from number 1 and 10, so that caused a delay when we made the turn. On the range it was fun hitting the floaters into the water. Great wildlife, birds of all types and some alligators hanging out in the sun or water. We were staying on Captiva so decided to play this course so as to avoid a long drive, so glad we did. You will enjoy the course, challenge and wildlife. Give it a try.
