We checked into the Island Inn a little late so it was dark and hard to see the entire property but we stayed in the Kimbal Lodge and my first impression was how fresh and clean everything smelled. The room was large, the shower/bath area wonderful and the little porch off our room with an ocean view a great perk! Everyday the housekeeping service managed to push all the sand we drug into the room back out to the sea and they gave us a fresh, clean room. We enjoyed the continental breakfast every morning - really more than your average continental with very cheerful, helpful staff. Nice bikes to rent, a warm pool and lots of white sand to enjoy. And of course, millions of shells on the beach to pick from. A great place to spend relaxing family time.

Well......I've never reviewed the same resort twice, but it's really necessary in this case. The Island Inn is a special place. It's kind-of like an old recipe that always pleases......the beautiful location on the beach, the respect for island history, the very professional staff, the attention to detail....I could go on and on....

We recently booked a Kimball Gulfview Kitchen Suite, as we had previously. We arrived on Christmas Eve and stayed three days. This time, we brought along a couple from our neighborhood. They booked a suite down the hall from us, and they loved it.

On arrival, a front desk staff member told us that our suites were going to look different since our last visit. Hmmmm, I liked it before.........'remodeled' you say? I'm wondering, what they could possibly do to improve the suites? We open the door to our suite, and we are 'wowed.' A complete top-to-bottom remodel..........beautifully updated bathrooms, enlarged kitchens with updated cabinets, new full-sized appliances, granite countertops.......very,very nicely done.

Our neighbors thanked us for our recommendation and we can't wait to return. Thank you for another great stay. Also, thank you for keeping the old, hand-made tables on the screened-in porch. We love the remodel, but the tables are a piece of the Island Inn that needed to stay.

This was my seventh trip to Sanibel and our second to the Island Inn. We rented the Zeeryp House for seven days and housed nine adults very comfortably. The house had plenty of sleeping room, two full baths, two refrigerators, washer and dryer etc. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The staff was outstanding. We had some questions about how things worked and got a prompt response each time, We had a toilet issue which involved plunger and mop (my wife did it, not me). We got an immediate response from Max who took care of it with a smile. He turned down the tip offered him. I can't figure that one out but thanks again.Max.
We used the great rental bikes and kayak and had a delicious meal in Traditions. We used the grill just outside of the house for two other meals and were provided with the necessary utensils. You are in a very quiet area of Sanibel but a close walk or bike ride to everything.
I can't compliment the staff enough. everyone was outstanding. We left each day for a few hours and magically the "house" was cleaned top to bottom by our house keeping genie.
I can't wait to return. Thanks for everything you did for my family.

Room Tip: Zeeryp has a little "water view" but you need to look for it. Everything else has a direct Gulf view.

We stayed in the Matthews Lodge in a kitchen suite. The kitchen had a full sized fridge and stove and was fully stocked. Beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean. We were on the 1st floor and parked right by the room. Our patio area was screened in and faced the ocean. Ana was our housekeeper and she was amazing! We always had plenty of towels. We were also able to borrow sand toys which was a nice perk. The ladies in the office were very friendly and helpful. The pool was nicely heated- probably around 85 degrees and pool toys were available for the kids to play with. They also have tennis courts, shuffleboard and bikes and kayaks available for rental. We didn't rent anything but the price seemed reasonable. The beach was well maintained and we had a lot of fun picking up shells. There is a shell washing station next to the laundry room. The laundry room had 3 washers and 3 dryers available. This is the only area of the resort that I saw needs to be updated.
We will definitely stay here again!

We stayed at the Island Inn the week after Christmas and loved it! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the location was perfect. My 8 yr. old son kept busy with their heated outdoor pool, shuffleboard, tennis, building sand castles or riding bikes. The bike path system is awesome! The motorists are very accommodating and allow the bikes first priority when at an intersection. The Island Inn had a nice breakfast and the onsite bike/kayak rental was handy. We stayed at the Kimball building at the Inn and was surprised how new everything was. I loved having the kitchenette in our spacious room. My husband would like to come back not once, but twice a year to the Island Inn. Great resort!!!
