Just hit the last weekend of the market before they close down for the summer. As usual, we found all we were looking for and more. Fresh fish, bread, pasta, fruits and veggies...and dynamite pulled pork sandwiches. We love Sunday mornings on Sanibel!

As many vacationers know, the reason you stay on Sanibel is the beach and relaxed atmosphere. For many people they get their groceries and hit the beach, never venturing far from the umbrella.
Take some time on Sunday and go to the market. It has a wonderful vibe and a lot of great finds. You will end up buying something here!
A few great finds and "must buy" include:
The Bread. This is where you want to carb out! The French lady and her husband have an amazing variety of bread ( hello Feta and Olive bread!)
The seafood. A couple of great stalls that have amazing crab cakes and fish. very good price on the crab cakes!
Coffee! Ok so its sunday morning and you need your java.. lots of places to wake you up.

FInally, buy some pasty and just sit near the town hall. There are some nice benches and hide aways where you can chill out.

I can only concur with the five star rating of this market. There are so many other items available compared to the "usual" farmers market, that this place is unique. From the smoked meats, German food and pastries, to the pickles, doggie treats, sea food, pizza, and cut flowers! Plus you can get a breakfast cooked there---eggs, sausage, coffee, French donuts---and enjoy same while shopping for bromeliads. Don't miss this Sunday morning experience. PS....you can also take home a cooked dinner!

Came back again this year to the seasonal Sanibel Farmers Market and what can I say? This thing gets better and better every year. I don't know who organizes this market, but it has to be one of the most organized and well thought out markets around. I was glad to see my favorites back again this year, Paradise Hand Made Soap Company, Pete's Fresh Mozzarella, The Bagel Factory and The Happy Pickle!! All who still have not let me down with quality and freshness! Those Bagels!!!!! How do they duplicate that New York/New Jersey recipe so closely??
New this year I tried, Elfies German food...5 stars, Fresh Seafood in the back....5 stars, Evies German Bakery....5 stars and Smoke Signals butcher.....also 5 stars! So many choices and so little time.
We can't wait to come back again next year!!
