We have played this course for several years because it was affordable and the people where friendly, our most recent experience with the new ownership and staff was the complete opposite. They were rude and inconsiderate and the fees tripled to play the course, and the shape of the course was horrid. Don't your money or time on this goat track.

We played here a few times this week as the Dunes was booked. It was fun, but not worth the fees. The greens were in terrible shape and the course is just average. If you are a 12 handicap or better you will be frustrated as you feel you are always waiting for fear of hitting into the next group. On one day it took us 4 hours and 40 minutes to play and the course is not long. There were sometimes 4 groups on a hole due to slow play. Clearly you only have a two choices on Sanibel so in the high season you are captive. Could be way better with more attention to the course conditions.

My wife and I have just returned from a fortnight in Sanibel and we had the pleasure of playing this course on six occasions. The course is interesting with a wide variety of different holes. Fairways, rough and bunkers were all well-kept and greens were quick and true. I accept that the tees were by no means the best we have played on, but we were both always able to find a flat spot from which to tee.

Do not be fooled into thinking this is an easy course. My wife hits shortish but straight and seldom lost a ball. On the other hand, I off a 6 handicap managed to find plenty of water, particularly on a number of tight second shots and off one-or-two tricky tees. Recovery shots around the greens are not easy either. This is a good test of golf without being a course that destroys your confidence or spoils your holiday!

This is an excellent place for relaxing holiday golf in interesting surroundings. In particular it was good to see that the ladies' tees (and the gold ones for those men who wanted forward tees) were far enough forward to ensure ladies could play without having ferocious carries over rough or water to fairways - something which always spoils the experience for most couples.

We played around 8.00 am each time and we were never rushed or in the midst of heavy traffic. Consequently we could enjoy the tranquility and early-morning sun and we had time to take in, not just the lovely views, but also the bird and general wildlife - including numerous pelicans, sea eagles, alligators and a particularly startling large green iguana!

Everyone we met on the course was friendly and helpful and on occasions we joined with other couples for parts of rounds. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who went out of their way to make us welcome. The "new owners" are working hard to develop the course and we have no complaints about what they are doing. We hope to return to Sanibel and when we do, we will certainly enjoy playing the course again.

I have been playing this golf course for more than 25 years and I have no idea what people are talking about when they say how much improved the course is. In all the courses I have played, around the world, I have never seen tee boxes in such dreadful condition. At nearly 90 dollars per round the condition should be far better. The greens are almost as bad, nearly dried out, sandy and inconsistent from hole to hole. If you can find a rake for the trap, most are with badly broken handles and missing tines. Much improved? If there is a greens keeper here he should be ashamed. The owners should be encouraged to work a little harder on proper course management.

While the professional staff working in the pro shop were very friendly and helpful, the quality of the golf course was pretty poor. The tee boxes were in especially bad condition. They were not level and the turf was in poor shape. I did not bring clubs on the trip so I rented them. The total cost to play 18 holes and rent clubs (which were decent) was nearly $150. Given the poor quality of the golf course, I thought that was too high for the value experienced. I don't think they should charge more than $50 in greens fees.
