Beautiful, well-kept gardens in a lovely neighborhood. Great location on the bay. Always a great variety of flowers.

“Peaceful retreat in the city.”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

Beautiful and serene park in the middle of the city. Orchids and trees to admire. Great views of Sarasota bay and Ringling bridge. Don't forget to visit the mansion, it often holds interesting exhibits. Would give it five stars except for the fact that it is overpriced. I recently took my brother, his wife and two teenagers at a cost of $95....Selby gardens is a small place and will only distract you for a couple of hours, go to Myakka Park instead, a much better value for the money....Selby Gardens gets State funding and should consider a "free" day like the Ringling Museum does or offer lower membership fees.

“Don't miss if you're a garden enthusiast”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

If you are lucky enough to visit Sarasota and you love gardens, then definitely stop here. We spent several hours wandering through the gardens. Part of the time we were with a tour guide (no change) who was very knowledgeable. The enormous tree house is not to be missed and the Bonsai area is incredible. There is even a Bonsai Club if you are staying in the area for any length of time. A spectacular watercolor painting exhibit was on the grounds as well. Beyond that a flower club had their sale happening in a gorgeous tented area right on the bay. What could be more enticing! We stopped, had a light lunch from the teahouse, and enjoyed the band and the tent sale. We left with huge smiles on our faces and know we will return on our next Sarasota trip!

“Beautiful Rainforest Garden for Children”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

Our main reason for the visit was to see the children's Rainforest area which was recently added by the Garden and we have found another Sarasota place to visit with visiting friends and family. The garden is right on Sarasota Bay which we love to live by. They have put a lot of thought to making this place a lot more child friendly and fun. The children's area has huts, a waterfall AND a canopy walk! We loved walking the shaded gardens with beautiful orchids (my favorites) and my boys loved the friendly koi fish. Definitely going back all summer!

“Location location”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

This garden has a wonderful location on Sarasota Bay.

It is known for its orchids and bromeliad. I found a Medinilla Magnifica or Philippine orchid that I had never seen but I had to come home & research to find its name.

I enjoyed the garden very much but felt that for the cost of a $19 admission & no senior discounts that they could have better markings for their plants & trees.

There was a wonder house on the property that is well worth seeing & a welcome breather from the heat and there was a beautiful photography display & competition not to mention the architecture of the house was interesting.

The butterfly garden was filled with butterflies.

There is a children's area that I found perfect for elders as well & looking over the railing was a gold crowned night heron eating a rather large crab.
