“Best beach”
Reviewed 30 October 2012

I would actually give this 3 1/2 stars based entirely on the beach access and the wonderful beach itself. My husband and I and our 3 children stayed in unit Y402. It was our first trip to Siesta Key. Loved the beach! White sand like flour, yes flour, not sugar. The resort is very good.. It's obvious they take a lot of pride in the grounds. I do wish they'd have daily maid service or at least acutually clean the room a couple times a week instead of their "light cleaning" on one day! They actually cleaned NOTHING on that day, and didn't even remove all of the dirty towels. Very, very disappointed in that as well as the cheap cookware in the kitchen. Not even a griddle to make pancakes! We had to used a warped skillet. And not providing dish soap, paper towels, tissues, salt & pepper is a royal pain and just tacky.

Although I wouldn't stay in unit Y402 again, it wasn't terrible. The location of that room is great, right off of the elevator, across from the laundry room and overlooking the beach and pool. The beds are not comfortable, and the linens on the beds are not nice. The master bedroom smelled like urine and my husband couldn't stand it. The televisions in the unit are small and need to be upgraded.

The room is very quiet, I guess you get nice thick walls at the older resorts which is great. The pools are very nicely heated in October so we loved that. They desperately need some shade at the main pool though. Not even an umbrella to shade small children. So we would stay at this resort again, we'd just pick a nicer unit and hope the beds are more comfortable.

Room Tip: Look at every picture of every unit available on the dates you are traveling. The Y building is clo...

My husband and I stayed with our 3 young children and had an amazing vacation. There is plenty of room in the condo and the pool is the largest around. We walked the beach looking at other resorts and this was the nicest. I highly recommend this location!!

We just got back from SSR. We loved it in Siesta Key and had an awesome room Y405. It was so close to the beach. Our room had excellent amenities. We had an issue when we checked in that the air conditioner did not work. It was after hours and the maintenance guy came and moved us to another room Y307 for the night. Lets just say that room is not nearly as nice as Y405. The beds were hard as a rock. When we got moved back to our room the next morning it was a nice relief to be back in our wonderful amenities and the beds were so much nicer in Y405. The room had nice furniture, granite counters, wonderful beds and TVs in living room and both bedrooms. Overall we loved the resort. The pool was great and the beach was wonderful with the soft sand and the water was so peaceful and we loved that it was fairly shallow so we didnt have to worry about the little ones getting too far out. Would love to return some day.

Room Tip: We loved the Y building with it being closer to the beach.

I can't say enough good things about our stay at Sarasota Surf and Racquet Club. The location is as good as it gets -- Directly on one of America's most beautiful beaches with a fantastic overlooking the beach (and a beautiful sunset). The grounds have all been recently upgraded and the landscaping is lovely. The service is simply par excellence. General Manager Carlin Strouse and her wonderful staff went out of her way to make sure my family had a fantastic stay. I can't wait to return.

My immediate family(2 Adults, 2 kids) and I have stayed at SSRC club 6 times over the last twelve years. We have always been pleased with the friendly service. Carlos and his team work hard to keep the facility up to shape. I have planned two family reunions here and had great sucess with planning for a large group (50+), because SSRC has a party room with small kitchen and banquet tables that can be rented during the evenings. We, unfortunately, were there for a tropical storm this past June, but once again, the staff worked hard to clean things up as much as possible. I have always booked my units almost a year in advance to be sure to get one of the more updated ones. Look at the pictures carefully before booking, to be sure of what you're getting. My family will return again in 2 years!

Thank you for your wonderful review! We here at SSRC are very happy to have offered you accomodations for your family reunions. Nothing makes us happier then to see guests returning again and again, and each time leaving with smiles on their faces!

We had a wonderful time! The condo is near many restaurants. Short drive to nearby keys. Beach is amazing! Powdery white sand. The condo we stayed in was W102. The condo is nicely decorated with wooden floors. Very good for families with children. My only two complaints...the king size bed in master bedroom is soooooo uncomfortable!!!!! Has a huge dent in the center. Terrible back pain each morning. And the main TV in living room is small and not LCD. We watched the opening of the Olympics and could not appreciate it as much do to small and old TV set. Condo was clean and kitchen was fully packed with all cooking and eating utensils and dishes. Hope to return but only if owner changes the bed!

People that grew up going to SSRC love it so this is why we decided to try it. GOOD - The location was fabulous and the size of our condo was also. The grounds crew did do a nice job of cleaning up and stacking the chairs every night and dispersing them in the a.m. BAD - geez, where do I begin. The condo said it was updated in 2010 but it must have been done very cheaply. The TVs in the 2 bedrooms were very small and old. Small flatscreens are only $200-$250 and that would have spruced it up a bit. The office staff seemed agitated and not friendly, one girl in particular. Get out of customer service if you don't like it. You have to reserve the charcoal grills and can only do so for 1 hour at a time. We received a flyer when we checked in that said there was a towel exchange and light cleaning on Wednesday so we waited all day and finally called the office only to find out that our owner chose not to participate in this exchange. No one, including the owner, bothered to tell us about this so the owner herself brought us clean towels herself...awkward. The beach in from of SSRC was monopolized by people who brought pop-up tents and set them up by 7a.m. along with 10 chairs inside them and 10 chairs in front of their tent. They drank heavily all day and most of the time were not using the chairs they had reserved (there is clearly a sign that says not to hold chairs) and their kids ran around alllllll evening. Every night the security guard had to speak to them. I am not a prude, I know this is vacation, but adults in their 40s should know how to act and respect the property and people around them. One more thing, Mother Nature was not good to us. On Wednesday of our stay clumps and clumps of sea grass washed ashore and it looked like turf on a football field. By Friday it stunk to high heaven! I know this could not be helped but the city of Siesta Key said they would not clean it up until after the 5th day....glad we weren't coming on that following Saturday. All in all, strictly average. The #1 beach rating has sent people here to find out what is so great about it, including Floridians, and it makes for a crowded island. Not worth the $1,800 for the week.
