“Much more than I expected”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2014

There is much more than I expected here. We started with a tour of the Ringling Mansion -- built to resemble a Venetian palazzo, with a marble terrace jutting out over the water. The interior is fabulous, with so many paintings and beautiful objects you don't know where to look first. For five extra dollars you get a tour of the second floor. I loved the fanciful and elaborate ceilings -- different in every room -- and the chandeliers and furnishings. Then we moved on to the circus museum which contains many colorful and unique objects from posters, to costumes, to the customized train cars the Ringlings traveled in. Next stop was the art museum where I was blown away by the quality of the art -- Rubens, Rembrandt, Franz Hals, Velasquez, to name just a few, with a beautiful courtyard in the center. It was not at all crowded so you are actually able to look closely at these artworks and enjoy them to the fullest. We spent five hours here and loved every minute. It is well worth a visit.

“More than expected”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

We had not been here for years, and were delighted and expectations exceeded manifold. The circus museum, the house of John Ringling, and especially the Art Museum, all for the one admission price, plus the grounds, banyan trees, roses, all made for a delightful Sunday.
Not to be missed in Sarsota!!

Its wonderful and free on Mondays. You do not have to pay to park. The grounds are beautiful. When you are finished you can sit on the patio and look over the bay. What a view!

“Beautiful place to visit - culture, nature, fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

The Ringling museum is a fabulous day out. Upon entering and paying the entrance fee (not cheap, but worth it! College students very cheap) you will find the store and restaurant. Continue out the rear doors and follow the path towards Ca D'zan. Along the way you will pass several renovated museums that provide a fabulous and interesting history of the circus life and memorabilia. The miniature train and circus diorama are amazing, and illustrate circus life back when the train was the central means of transportation. To the left of the path are a small food area, and then gardens and trails to walk. Continuing on you reach the main house Ca D'zan, which is amazing inside (opulent), but more fun and relaxing are sitting on the magnificent tile patio chairs, staring out into the Gulf, and the kayakers, and boats sailing by.
Head back up the path, this time keeping to the right, and you'll reach the art museum, with masterpieces from several centuries of master painters. In the center is a large courtyard, which once when I was visiting, they were setting up for a wedding. There is something for everyone here, and well worth the price.
