We looked forward to trying Italian Tradition and when they offered a Savor Sarasota menu, we made a reservation. First of all, the restaurant is beautiful.
It has a quietly elegant interior, so we were surprised how casually the hostess
was dressed. Just an observation! The Savor Sarasota menu offered a number
of deliciously described choices. However, the flan was more like a mini quiche
and didn't have much flavor. The grouper, too, although a generous portion,
seemed lacking flavor in spite of its tomato sauce with capers and
olives. And, finally, we were surprised that the creme brulee filled about a third
of the custard cup! It had a creamy texture and its crust a wonderful crunch,
but again not much flavor. The service was efficient, friendly and helpful.

While the setting is charming, all in all the food was a disappointment. We
expected more and doubt we'll return soon. It's unfortunate and we regret
we can't offer a more complimentary review.

Overall the portions were small.. too pricey for what one receives.. taste was good, but not great enough to justify.. location and building is nice .. nice atmosphere.. all at our table agreed that it would be tough to justify a return..

When we arrived at this beautiful restaurant with another couple, we were greeted by one of the owners in jeans - definitely not appropriate. OK, so since the restaurant was empty at the time, our service was very good. Drinks came out promptly and were delicious. Tiny, tasty rolls were served next - size of a golf ball. Caesar salads for three and a really tiny appetizer pizza for the fourth. Very good caesars. We had read about the small portions, but were not prepared for the main courses - more like side dishes in the case of the tagliatelle bolognese - which was of poor quality, and half courses for the other entrees. Two veal dishes showed no signs of tenderizing, and the fish served to our dinner companion who usually eats half of what is served to her disappeared and she rated it tasty, but she - like the rest of us - was still hungry. Then came the desserts. Three semifreddos smaller than a golf ball and a creme brulee that we had to take a photo of since it would be hard to make people believe it filled about one-third of the ramekin without that proof. Really! All this for about $225 for four - Savor Sarasota pricing. Can't imagine what the tab would have been without that special. Don't get me wrong, we spent $400 on dinner a couple of weeks ago and had no complaints. I.T. owners, aren't you paying attention to your reviews or do you just not care? We give most restaurants a second chance and were all first timers at your restaurant thanks to an appealing menu and Savor Sarasota pricing, but will not be returning.

This was our 3rd time at IT. On our first visit, I reviewed this restaurant with 5 stars. And had another positive experience on our second visit where we dined in their lovely courtyard. We like to take advantage of Savor Sarasota and so planned a get together with 2 other couples for IT's Savor Sarasota menu. The 2 couples have heard of the restaurant but it was their first visit. Upon arrival we were greeted and escorted to our reserved table. We waited 30 minutes for someone to come to the table and take our drink order. Things did not improve for the entire visit. I grew increasingly uncomfortable every time the door opened to new guests because the only 2 people waiting on this entire room was the hostess and 1 waiter. I agree with vanwalsh-the portions were incredibly small and the food was just ok. I was totally embarrassed for having chosen IT because I had spoke so positively about it to our friends. The punchline to the story is that it took almost 3 hours to have dinner. My husband and I had walked to the restaurant and upon leaving walked into a torrential rainstorm which soaked us through and through. I couldn't help thinking if the service had been timely, I would have been at home safe and dry.

For all I know this is the greatest food in Sarasota, but if you want a reservation, don't use their website because they will not respond. We thought we had made a reservation, but apparently not.
