Wonderful place for friends to hang out or for a romantic dinner. Not inexpensive but very good value.

Do yourself a favor and try to order one of the specials off the huge chalkboard... You will not regret it.

Portions are good size and can be shared.

Service is friendly and attentive.

Fresh fish can also be purchased here to take home to prepare.

Ambiance is rustic fish market inside with a typical strip mall patio that has had attention paid to layout. Patio heaters available for cool nights.

Very good Fresh Fish. Prepared very well. Only problem it is very crowded always, they do not take reservations. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. The bread is fantastic. If it weren't for the wait, I would give it 5 stars.

This Bistro is excellent. The seafood is fresh and creatively prepared. The Raw Bar is impressive. Staff is friendly. Place starts filling up at 5:30. Not to worry, one can have a drink in the bar while waiting for seating. No reservations so your going to have to be patient. Indoor and Outdoor seating. Desserts will satisfy as well.

So, let me start with the not so good, or not so great; if you live in Florida and if you are around the service industry often, you notice great escalations in the quality and type of service, even at the same places, from time to time. Our server was good, not overly attentive, but that is usually the function of the restaurant being busy, understaffed to save money and probably partly the Florida experience. So, relax, have a glass of beer or wine and just enjoy. For the really good stuff... This place has been recommended to us by several people that are local to the area and have been here longer than we have. So, we finally decided to try it out. The great sign is that the location, although close to Lakewood Ranch and University shopping areas, is in a small strip mall, behind a gas station, more or less, but it is still packed. We got a seat outside, had a beverage and started with the oysters. The gulf oysters are bigger, but not as tasty as their cousins from colder waters, such as Canadian or Japanese ones. They were just OK. For our entrees, we had the shrimp and scallop risotto and the black grouper, blackened. Both were outstanding, cooked well and with tasty, comforting sauces around them. Often times, chefs will go with the trendy ingredients and try to wow, but it does not always work. Also, if I ever wanted to consume undercooked fish, I would go get sushi. So, for my taste, perfectly cooked fish, amazing red pepper sauce and the spinach risotto was also outstanding. For dessert, we split the havanas bananas brulee, which was well presented, inventive and tasty. So, service is good, not great, however, the food is the star here and the reputation of this place is well warranted. We will be back soon, maybe even just for a drink (great bar atmosphere as well as nice drafts).

Lucky Pelican took us several minutes away from our hotel on Lido Beach, but it was well worth the drive! This is perfect beach food in my book. Wide variety of seafood options and several beers on tap. The lobster roll was awesome. Yummy sauces on the fresh fish. Delicious fresh vegetables. The waitress was knowledgable but not very personable. Enjoyed my dining companions so no great loss there, but it was the only thing that detracted from an otherwise stellar experience! Food was excellent.
