“great getaway”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2013

we spent a wonderful 24 hrs. at the Ritz Carlton in Sarasota. When we arrived we were quickly checked in and escorted to our club level room. The service at the club level is definetly worth the upgrade. The concierge anticipates your every need. The food/snacks in the club were the best.
Our room was wonderful and we had a nice water view - perfect for watching the sunset.
The spa was also beautiful and peacful. Our message therapist, Clare, left us both feeling relaxed.
The only reason I did not give this property 5 stars was because our service by the pool was spotty, at best. Rarely did anyone come by to ask if we needed anything. Also, my husband specifically asked for non-draft beer, but got warm draft both times. Other than that, our stay was great.

My husband and daugter visited this property last summer for two nights and we had such a good time we decided to return this year for three nights. It is hard to be as impressed as the first time (you know what to expect and already have high expectations), but we were still VERY happy with our stay. We requested the same room we had last year and they honored that request. There were two small stains on a decorative pillow in our room, but if that's the only thing I can find wrong, that's saying something! I had to look hard to find anything wrong! The toilets are very loud, but we noticed that they were replacing toilets on our floor and I bet that the new ones are quiet! There was a new restaurant on the property called Jack Dusty and we had breakfast there each morning. It was SUPERB! My husband said that the french toast was the best he ever had, so he had it three mornings in a row! I should mention that we come in the summer and found a deal. We paid about $320/night and that included breakfast for two and a $50 resort credit each day. There are also fees for valet and internet, etc. I wish internet were free at that price!!! Considering what it would cost during the peak season, we feel fortunate to find this deal and I hope they continue it, so we can come back. As I mentioned in my review last year, the biggest plus for this hotel is the beach club. It is a short shuttle drive away. I do wish the shuttle left every 30 minutes instead of 60 minutes. But, once you get there, it is stunning. The pool is the perfect temperature and the view of the beach and ocean is stunning. The service at the pool was slow because they were understaffed. The food at the pool was good and reasonably priced, but the drinks were pretty expensive. The locker room is beautiful, but they should replace the fabric covered benches (stained!!!) with wood. Our seven year old daughter was welcomed there, but this is not a hotel the focuses on children. We are average Honda/Toyota kind of people, but were a bit overwhelmed by all the Mercedes driving ones at this hotel! Overall, this is a beautiful hotel with great service and we would love to go back, if they continue the summer deals.

We recently had our third stay at this Ritz Carlton and, as always, it lived up to its sterling reputation. This was a business trip / pleasure trip as my partner had won a contest at work and this was first prize. Service is wonderful, rooms are lovely (and we had a water view) and the beach club is our favorite. This time we did not use the spa as the weather was conducive to being outdoors - so we were off to the club for two days. The club is up the road, so a shuttle takes you there or you can drive there yourself and valet park. Beach chaise lounges and umbrellas were plentiful and the water was perfect. The beach is wide and water is clear so a lovely swim and tan experience. You are assigned a beach attendant and he brings food and drinks once he sees your flag alert waving. The womens' locker room is nice with plenty of change rooms and showers, hair dryers, towels, etc. The hotel itself is right on the water downtown. We ate at the Columbia one night and then had a drink in the lounge which was very large and comfy. We did not have a chance to eat at the new seafood restaurant, but it has good reviews. A couple of small negatives: one was that upon our arrival, our valet was a little offensive. While I stayed in the car until we saw if our room was ready, he went through his tagging routine and at one point yanked open my driver side door and placed the valet ticket in the door pocket without any warning. The next day he was there and a lot less brusk - so he is forgiven. Also, room service breakfast promised handmade granola and it was Kellogg in a box - yikes. A communication to us might have changed our order. The coffee was wonderful.

Great location, wonderful town, can't beat the beach club.

Something that is always incredible at the Ritz is the service provided by the staff at all levels. From the time you step in the hotel to the time the valet brings your car up and loads your car when you leave, the service and professionalism of the staff is superior.
I would have given it an "excellent" review as opposed to "very good" for two reasons - Obvioulsy, the hotel is trying to cut cost. The first one was the lack of choice as to the paper delivered in the morning - the offer USA Today and nothing else it appears, and the second is that they stopped having a breakfast buffet in the new dining room. That to me was a major disappointment.
Otherwise, everything else was great

Great place to meet up with my American family. Staff were curtious and overall service very good. We arrived in the middle of a storm, but the next day it was bright sunshine. Great beach club service and cocktails outstanding and is well worth the trip. It was our anniversary and the hotel sent complementary chocolate strawberries and sparkling wine to our room. Food was also outstanding a thankyou to all staff.

I visited this property for a conference last month.(Sorry about the delay in review) I have stayed at another Ritz further down the road (Naples) and I must say that I was not wowed by this experience like the one down the road. It is a smaller location, so I had to factor that in after the experience, but the place had an antiquated feel to it. The bar serves alligator tail which I love and the drinks are decent. I was not impressed with the grits that came with my breakfast from room service. The Spa was nice though. Great service from the attendants....but the five diamond award should have gone to the other location if it didn't get it already.

Stayed at the ritz for 5 nights and I have to say overall the service was ok but not 5 star by any means . The valet parking is terrible if you are in a hurry good luck we waited for up 10 minutes for our vehicle and then wait 5 or 10 minutes more for all the vehicles blocking us to move. The staff are very friendly but the service in the outside terrace was terrible twice we sat down outside hoping to have a glass of wine and after sitting their for over 10 minutes with no service we got up and left The spa was fantastic probably the best part of the experience.Over priced for level of service provided
