Our family had stayed in Sun N Fun for many times now. The security of the premises, the family oriented and pet friendly place made Sun n Fun one of a kind. No matter if we stay in the vacation rentals or in camping tents, we always enjoyed it. They always has an activity for all. The pools, spa, playgrounds are great. Beaches are within minutes from the resort.

We have camped at Sun N Fun twice now...both times during Labor Day weekends. This place is HUGE!! The first time we camped (we have a pop-up camper), we got a standard site. This is a grass site with a picnic table. The site that we got was far away from the pool, the bathhouse, and any of the activities. It was also on a street (Avenue F) that was mostly permanent trailers. We felt like we were camping in a trailer park. The most memorable event that trip was when our kids got yelled at within the first 10 minutes of our arrival because they were riding their electric scooters (that go about 5 mph). They were told that if they didn't have driver's licenses, then they couldn't ride them. However, there were 10 year old kids driving golf carts all over the place. This Labor Day we paid more and reserved a deluxe back-in site in the Queen area on Pine Street. This was more like the camping that we are used to. The site we had was shady and the area is all campers/RVs. We camp with friends and both families have 2 teenagers. There was plenty for them to do and they stayed busy all weekend. The problem that we have with Sun N Fun is that while the outdoor pool is enormous (the indoor one costs extra to use) and a lot of fun, you are not to bring any food or drink to the pool area. There is a bar and poolside restaurant there and they want you to buy everything from them obviously. My kids don't like soda so every time they were thirsty, they went to the bar to ask for a glass of water and the bartender was EXTREMELY rude. If you don't want people to dehydrate in the hot Florida sun, and you don't want to serve them water, then you should allow them to bring it in without making people feel like they have to be sneaky about it. There are women that walk around the pool like security guards checking bags (they made one woman open her diaper bag so they could look in it!!). After paying $25 per child for the weekend for a wristband to be able to do the giant slide, the obstacle course, the mechanical surf board, etc. and spending plenty at the bar and restaurant, I want to be able to bring a box of Cheez-Its for a snack to the pool. The place is definitely money hungry and will nickel and dime you to death! So, I'm on the fence about how I feel about this place. It's a lot of fun for the kids and nice to relax poolside and listen to music (although one of the two man bands was horrible!!), we found great sites this time and the bathhouse was awesome - clean and air conditioned, I didn't appreciate some of the rude staff nor feeling like a criminal because I have to sneak in bottled water and snacks and watch over my shoulder so that one of the pool security staff (aka fun killers) doesn't yell at me.

Sun 'n Fun has something for all! The grounds are beautiful; the pools are great and the atmosphere is so relaxing. There is even a pond where you can go fishing and outdoor games that you can participate in. The units are adorable.

Room Tip: It's a lot cheaper than travelling to Disney!

My mother has a trailer at Sun n Fun. Never really thought my family (I 15 yo boy) would care to vacation in a "retirement" type of resort.

I had a chance to drop by for a weekend after attending a trade show in Florida to check the place out. I was impressed. Enough to suggest that we go and spend xmas holidays there.
We had a great time. As mentioned in other posts, the facilities are great. huge pools, hot tubs, and the various other things around the property. During the holidays there typically are a lot more kids around so my son quickly found friends to hang around with.
Sarasota is also not a bad location to call home base if you want to do day trips to the other fun things Florida has to offer.
We will go back to visit again.

Not exactly camping, and not a resort... This place is a confusing, inhospitable hot mess. Nickeled and dined to death... The staff was either overwhelmed, apathetic, or openly rude. The water smelled so badly at every tap that it was gag- worthy... And the entire "resort" was a confusing, poorly planned sprawl. We were over a mile from any facility requiring a car ride to even go to the pool. Our unit never got below 80-lost power over and over if we ran even the coffee maker- was dank, dated, and yucky, and had bugs. Add to that our lost reservations, really rude staff, and yucky facilities... No thanks. We stayed a total of two days and left with two days remaining and paid for. Never again, not even for free.
