Description: With over 50 lineal feet of bar and community tables belly up and take a respite from the day's worries. Rich in history, the corner bar, country shack, juke joints and Friday night fish fries are what make up the southern bar. With influences far and wide, old and new together with the freshest local ingredients - it's all about the food. Simple food, fresh ingredients and prepared with respect for our southern roots. We live for it. We challenge ourselves daily to prepare authentic southern fare for the whole family in a relaxed setting. Great southern cooking in a warehouse vibe with folks who appreciate your presence is our passion. The Blue Rooster offers the best live entertainment Sarasota has to offer, delivered through a top notch sound system in a classic juke joint atmosphere. Make sure to bring your dancing shoes!

Went to the blue rooster on 4th street for dinner and music. We sat at a community high top with others, including the two owners of the establishment, Ellen and Bill, who were very down to earth and easy to talk to. The food was great and the vibe and music even better. What a great night out! Highly recommended. Reservations are a must.

First, the food is comfort food; fried chicken, fried catfish, cheesy grits, mac and cheese, fried green tomatoes... it is all good. The music, regardless of your religious beliefs, is great and uplifting. Three women who sing from their soul. The drummer who plays it like an instrument; not just keeping time. It was an experience that I won't forget. You should not miss this opportunity.

What a disappointment! We have been to The Blue Rooster in the past and the food was good. Went there last night and even though the music was great, the food was mediocre at best. The chicken and waffles were horrible and sent back twice. The replacement, the fish dish not good at all. The beet salad with salmon not good. The fried green tomatoes greasy. Even though we left most of the food, we were charged full price. Oh my.

I was hesitant about trying the Gospel Brunch because of the mixed reviews but I am sure glad we did.
Atmosphere- A+. It’s casual and comfortable although most people were coming from church so were a little more dressed up than probably other days. The bar would be nice to sit at if that’s what you prefer. Most of the tables are set up community style so you may share a table with someone but it doesn’t seem strange at all because everyone is busy watching the band.
Food: nice selection of southern food, buffet style. Most things were delicious. The foods are listed on the website.
Music: Truality was playing. 6 muscians. They were perfect for Sunday Brunch. It’s loud like a concert so don’t expect to talk with others at your table. They played from noon - 1:00 and then took a break. We all felt that an hour was a good amount of time to listen to them.
I would recommend this experience to others.

My other 1/2 and I headed here as we found it on the Internet. It was right after work so we got here at 5:45PM. Fortunately for us it was still “Happy Hour”. That basically amounted to a handful of small tasting dishes for $3-$5.00 and $1.00 off draft beer. I found the Tangerine Wheat Beer to be to my liking.

The tasting dishes were unique and interesting but not for those on a diet. We ordered almost one of everything on the tasting menu. (You can afford that when the most expensive item is $7.00). We liked the Pulled Pork Slider and Fried Black Eyed Peas so much we re-ordered them.

Eventually we got full and could only bring ourselves to order a few pieces of fried chicken with Steak Fries to split.

To top this off there was a band setting up the stage and they are about to start playing.

We liked this place and will probably come back... Cheers....
