This is an amazing series of museums. The famous Ringling Circus made its home in Sarasota, Fl. Many actual artifacts from the circus are housed in The Circus Museum, including the private rail car the Ringling used when the circus would travel.
There is also a miniature circus, depicting circus life, that is hand carved and the work of one man, Howard Tibbals. It is just jaw-dropping.
Additionally, there is the home of the Ringlings, truly a mansion in its own right--right on the Gulf of Mexico and it can be toured, though we just walked around the outside.
Finally, there is an incredible art museum, as the Ringlings invested in many wonderful works, including some great Peter Paul Rubens. This museum also has an outside statuary garden.
This place is truly an all day experience and we really enjoyed it.
