“Pleasant boutique hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2012

Recently stayed here for 3 nights-check in was efficient, polite knowledgeable staff. The lobby is fresh and inviting-there is a small bar (wine or beer only) off to the side with an adjacent dining area. The room (king suite) was spacious with not much of a view- do not know if there are great views from this hotel as it overlooks street or high rise with parking garage.-however, I would certainly not let that be a deterrent from booking a room here. The rooms are done with murals, nicely coordinated decor (this one is beachy) and as with other Hotel Indigos, I found this one to be extrememly clean. My only negative comment was that the a/c had a tendency to cycle on and off a lot; was told they are working on it. Bed was comfortable and WI FI good. Just a nice little hotel.

Thank you L S! We may be biased, but we think travelers from St. Augustine know a thing or two about choosing beautiful beach towns. We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay here and hope you continue to return. The only thing we like more than a knowledgeable St. Augustine visitor is a regular St. Augustine visitor!

Nice, clean, and modern boutique hotel which is part of the holiday inn chain.
Pros: central location. walking distance to excellent tourist office with friendly staff and cute little free museum worth a few mins stopover. it's not on the beach but between lido/longboat and siesta key beaches.

Rooms: large flat screen tv, large refrigerator that allows you plenty of space to bring back food and drinks. Recommend the down home pies at Yoder's Amish restaurant. about 25 choices from cream to baked. the fresh blueberry cream was luscious and not too sweet.

2 robes in small closet with iron board.
very good comfortable beds.

Large bathroom with shower (no bathtub) well lighted. aveda toiletry products.

Small fitness center.

Breakfast (a la carte) was okay. standard. nice, airy open dining area.

free wifi

both underground and small above ground parking so car doesn't need to bake and elevator goes directly to Underground area.

Cons:
a/c unit makes a lot of noise. no safe. no bathtub, if you need this.
no swimming pool only small wading pool/hot tub.

Overall, nice place. vibrant, young and colorful. My parents in their 80's stayed there a week earlier and also enjoyed it.

One more tip: for vegetarians/vegans (and even healthy meat eaters), there is a great place to eat called Simon's coffee house just 15 mins south on 41. Incredible and cozy. The raw veggie lasagne is amazing and I'm not a vegetarian. Wow!

Poboxearth, we’re going to have to put you on our payroll as a concierge. You have the amenities and neighborhood down!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad you were delighted with our hotel and look forward to seeing you here again soon! Make sure to call ahead and we’ll have a Yoder’s pie waiting for you in one of those convenient large fridges.

P.S. Try the Taos Panini next time you’re at Simon’s. I drool just thinking about it!

The hotel itself was fine, although when we arrived we were not allowed to check in. We had to take a walk, have lunch, then come back and check in; which left us very little time to get ready for the first opera we were to see that day. We had communicated all this when we arrived, but the hotel could not find a way to accomodate us.
The room was fine, normal Holiday Inn size, but furnished with some colorful pillow covers, etc. Bed was comfortable, the shower was weird, it spritzed rather than sprayed.
The location is the real downside. It is near nothing and is surrounded by empty lots; it's like an urban redevelopment that never happened. Walking back to the hotel from town at night is a bit scary. Overall, can't imagine staying there again.

Daphsdad, we’re sorry about your struggles! Our hotel has a check in time of 3:00 and a check out time of noon. We do all that we can to accommodate guest requests, but sometimes the hotel is so popular that all of the rooms are sold out and we have to do a quick turnover! As many of our reviews mention, our hotel is constantly commended for being one of the cleanest around and we insist upon meeting that bar, which means we spend more time cleaning the rooms before guests can check in.

In addition to being a top arts destination and home to the number one beach in the nation, Sarasota is a town that is big on open space. Around here, every lot has a purpose. Many are dedicated to maintaining the beauty of our coastal town. Perhaps you noticed the Sarasota Garden Club directly across the street from the hotel, which is a prime example of this initiative. We offer a complimentary shuttle service within a mile radius of the hotel and are more than happy to take guests downtown and pick them up.

We’re glad you found your room and bed comfortable and hope you left relaxed and renewed. We urge you to come back and give the area another chance. We’re want to go above and beyond to ensure every guest leaves happy; if you’d like to discuss your visit further, please call us at (941) 487-3800 and ask to speak to Leslie Power, our General Manager.

Close to downtown, could walk, but may need tp drive to some areas. Has a lobby bar and restaurant. Rooms a little hot, since they don't turn on electric until you put key in the remote on the wall, not the best idea for hot Florida! Call ahead to have staff cool the room. Also, no pool, just area with (cold and hot) hot tubs.
Smoking in hot tub area was annoying, but hotel was clean, had parking and rooms were clean. Also, if using priority club points, an outstanding deal at 5000.00 per night.

Room Tip: Don't expect great views of water, only one side might have water views.

Rrmwork, you used your rewards right, booking us while we’re a featured Points Break hotel! We appreciate your visit and apologize for any irritation caused by smoking at the pool. Everything inside the building is smoke-free and we work hard to keep our guests away from second hand smoke while not isolating smokers.

Thank you for taking the time to review and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

the rooms are beautifully furnished in beachy colors, the staff is very friendly and helpful, breakfast buffet was good and it was nice to have the small bar with live music in the lobby. We loved everything about this hotel, including its easy walking distance to downtown Sarasota.

There's a lot to like about this hotel. For one, the staff are outstanding,,,I mean Ritz -Carlton level of attention and friendliness. The rooms are decorated tastefully and are impeccably clean. The common areas have a boutique-y feel that stands apart from the usual hotel vibe. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent..food and service both. BUT>>>> the noisy air conditioner (room 202) made it almost impossible to sleep well, despite a very comfortable bed. The unit for some reason cycled on every three minutes like clockwork all night. Based on other reviews, this room may not be an isolated problem. I really want to like this hotel, but getting a good night's sleep is a requirement.

Jerry S, we sympathize with your pain and are on a mission to eliminate sleep interference. Our A/C units are being shipped out and replaced as quickly as our supplier can manage. We’re truly sorry that the noise kept you up.

Please come back and visit again for a relaxing and renewing experience. We’ll prove that our staff tops even the Ritz in service and that there is no better place to feel at home than the Hotel Indigo Sarasota.

This was my first stay at this great find in Sarasota. The hotel is clean, up-scale, and airy. The staff is wonderfully attentive and can help with any need. Upon check-in, I arrived at my room to find it cool and airy with a delightful cd playing of soothing music. The staff suggested restaurants and outings when asked. The Aveda spa products (lotion, shampoo, conditioner) are great in the rooms and have a rosemary mint scent. There is a bike rental station right outside for quick (or leisurely) rides over to Main Street or St Armand's for drink, dinner or sunsets. The A/C units are a little loud, but by the second night I had adjusted to the off/on noises. The furnishings are nice and even include a tray for breakfast in bed. I will look for more Indigos as the atmosphere was upscale without the pompousness.

Room Tip: Fourth floor rooms are great as they are above the street noise.
