“Water taste terrible. Showers smell”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2014

This place is a dump. The water smells and I cannot get the taste out of my mouth. The rooms are old. I talked to the staff and they said they are getting the same comments. It needs work. Not sure why they do not fix the issues or apologize. They also charge you a fee for water in your room.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review and I am sorryt o hear that your stay was less than satisfactory especially when it came to the water quality. Have checked into this and we did not receive any other complaints of the water quality so it sounds this was an isolated incent however this is still a concern to us because we want each and every guest to have a wonderful experience. Please let us know when you will be back in the hotel andwe will make sure your stay with us far exceeds your expectations.

Walking in you're surrounded by the sound of water cascading over rocks which was very nice. Walk inside I felt like I was in one of those luxe Miami hotels with the modern tropical feel. The breakfast buffet was free with triple AAA and it's a good one (but our waitress never even went to our table for breakfast and ignored us pretty much, had to get drinks ourselves). Dinner was pretty nice too a little pricey but healthy food so it's hand in hand, our server was very good for dinner. When we went to checkin all went smoothly for my checkin but my friend who assigned a balcony overlooking the bay next to ours for some reason was re-booked... Meaning her room was no more by their error and there were no rooms nearby ours with a balcony view so she had to pick one without a balcony which was closer but not in the same hall even... So that's my only complaint really was the booking mishap. Room design was very nice for the ladies, not sure how the gentlemen would feel (or necessarily care even). Lilly Pulitzer (hope I spelled that right) designed pretty much the entire interior design of the hotel so that should give you a good idea what to expect. Nice free Starbucks coffee maker in the room and the bathroom felt very clean to me. Overall I would stay here again when in Sarasota.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. Your comment regarding the helthy menu options in the restaurant are both accurate and refreshing. I'm glad to hear when our guests notice the farm-to-table concept that Chef has brought to the hotel. We will certainly try harder the next time you come to get your friends closer as you had requested but until then, safe travels.

Husband and I needed to get out of polar vortex so found this hotel. I didn't want to rent a car so needed a place that A.offered ability to do things without a car B. offered fun amenities C. spacious pool and hot tub. Hyatt delivered all of the above, the shuttle service afforded us ability to visit lido beach by day and historical sarasota for dinner. The town also was walking distance and safe- so we even walked home one night after being out. The kayaks and bikes which are included in resort fee, gave us some other fun options during day, aside from reading next to the clean, spacious pool. The pool even has a "lane" for laps. the resort activities/fitness staff were very nice and super helpful, there is a 4 mile run (one way) you can do over the causeway, past bird key to armbands circle and they have a little map for you if you are ambitious. we ended up the riding bikes to armands for lunch- they provide helmet and bike lock. My only CON- we got shooed from the cabana's (which i understand are supposed to by rental/reserve only), however there were NO OPTIONS for sitting at pool as people had towels on empty chairs, so felt a bit pissed that the staff couldn't have assisted me instead of scolding.

Room Tip: ask for open balcony, some rooms don't have them

Good afternoon and thank you for taking the time to write your post. It sounds like you really mad ethe most of your time wich is great to hear! Thank you for commenting on our new resort fee program. We have had positive feedback about the program. We do not condone placing towels on unoccupied chairs on the pooldeck and do our best to control these situations. Nevertheless, you should not have been made to feel like you were intruding in the cabanas and I apologize that you were made to feel that way. While I certainly hope for you sake that the cold weather doesn't continue, please think of us the next time the snow starts falling and thank you for your business.

Just returned from a weekend stay for a wedding at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota. First impressions were quite good. The lobby and entrance are really nice and the front desk was extremely helpful. I had used the web check-in feature but still used the front desk to check in. The hotel was very, very clean and everyone was very nice and friendly. Cristal at the front desk was especially nice.

Our room was on the 7th floor and overlooked the marina and pool. The bed was very comfortable and everything was clean. The bathroom was extremely small and I'd imagine that a bigger person would find it very uncomfortable. We needed a steamer for my wife's dress and the front desk sent it up immediately.

We went directly to the pool after a 3 hour traffic fest from TPA so we wanted to relax. The pool is a lagoon style with a zero entry and waterfall. Very nice. There was also a jacuzzi tucked behind the waterfall. There is a bar/restaurant next to the pool (Hurricane Hut, I think) which was surprisingly very good.

Now the issues. I am a Hyatt Gold Member and felt like I was really valued. However, my friend, whose wedding we were attending, had a much different experience. First of all, she was on the 10th floor in an accessible room. When she asked for a room change, she was denied. On the morning of her wedding, the reception staff refused to set up her centerpieces forcing the bride, the brides mother, and some of the bridesmaids to set them up mere hours before her ceremony. Unacceptable. When she called for two steamers, she was put on hold. After waiting, she called back and was again put on hold. When she finally got through, she had to wait over a half hour for delivery. It seemed as though she did not get great treatment; regardless of the fact that it was her wedding.

I will give the hotel credit for working with her for the reception as the hellish Sarasota traffic left the wedding party over two hours late to the reception. The hotel nicely extended the open bar and was very understanding.

All in all, the Hyatt was a very nice hotel with good amenities. However, I was very disappointed that my friend, on her wedding weekend, was treated so poorly. Also, the bathrooms are so poorly designed/situated that some will find them enormously uncomfortable.

Room Tip: Ask for a marina/pool view...

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I appreicate the honest feedback about the points that you brought up and we have routed the issues, along with the postive feedback to all of the involved departments for follow up and recognition. We rpide ourselves on providing exceptional service and to hear about an issue with the center pieces is disturbing as our staff has gone our of our way many tuimes to help with finals details for events to ensure things go to plan. Again, we will dive into this further. Enjoy your weekend and we hope to see you again soon.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and have no complaints. Well maybe the charge for the WiFi; so many places are free now. The Hyatt charges a minimum of $10.00 a day, but free in the lobby. As many reviews have mentioned the hotel is a short drive to St. Armand's Circle and Siesta Key. However, we felt the walk to downtown Main Street was thru a rather dingy, dark, less populated area. You have to cross Tamiami Highway, a busy four lane street. We just didn't feel safe walking home at night. We didn't feel the downtown area to be very vibrant and chose St. Armand's for the shopping and the Columbian and Tommy Bahama's restaurants. Also we found a great restaurant for breakfast called Mango's a short five minute walk from the hotel.

Thank you for posting your review. Your concern regarding the wifi is something that we have heard from other guests so we have instituted a hotel fee that covers in room wifi and many other value-ads like daily in room bottled water, use of our water sport equipment, etc. The Toasted Mango is a great spot for breakfast so I am glad that you were able to make it over there. We hope that you will stay with us again during your next trip to Sarasota.

We were due to stay for 3 days tat the ritz Carlton but because they were full, we had to spend a night at the Hyatt. The food is good but the rate doesn't include breakfast. Very friendly staff but we didn't get an opportunity to enjoy the hotel at all.

The hotel is adjacent to the water and next to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall- we walked over in 3 minutes to see the Broadway touring cast of Memphis. The rooms are spacious and the staff were always helpful. Outdoor pool is landscaped beautifully and private. There is city walk along the water that starts directly outside the hotel entrance- we were able to make a few mile loop to start every morning. Downtown shops are easy walk or short ride. Ringling Museum area is about 3 mile drive- 5 minutes away.
