Most beautiful beach I've been to since the Don CeSar...quiet, clean & romantic. View of beach from hotel room is beautiful as well.

Hotel is just in poor shape. For the price, I'd definitely go elsewhere. I think this is what a Motel 8 or 6 or whatever, must be like. Tub was so dirty I had to wear my flipflops to take a shower...so of course I didn't want to walk on the carpet either. TV remote and clock radio, both too nasty to touch. I realize it is an old hotel, but come-on, Holiday Inn used to have a standard. I even checked the mattress for bed-bugs (thank God I didn't see any)

Pictures show hotel ON The Beach... You actually have to cross 2 lanes of traffic to get to the beach. So...you have the vehicle traffic drowning out the sounds of the waves.

Ate at the restaurant on 7th floor. It was virtually empty, now I know why. The prices 'absolutely outrageous'. Tiny (I mean tiny (2 oz) glass of house wine $6.00. (A bottle cost $5.99 at Walmart). Ordered nachos & cheese...worst ever had in my entire life (ssuper greasy chips & mozzarella/cheddar cheese made it one big stuck-toogether mess..who'd think they would not use nacho cheese??.)

Lady at front dest, was nice, but really didn't give a hoot. Just smiled asked if she should call another hotel down the road for us to stay !

Location was very nice to walk to St Armands Circle... other than that only ok...

We regret that you found our hotel unclean in any way. We have very high standards for cleanliness, and have received top ratings from Holiday Inn for the same. We recognize we are an older property, and we are working to improve that aspect as well.

My daughter and I were in Sarasota looking at universities and unfortunately only had a night here. I would have preferred a much longer visit. The manager was a lovely woman who welcomed me as a Platinum member and gave us the little "goody bag" with water and treats. She also upgraded us to an oceanview on the top floor. While it's true that there is a road between the hotel and beach, you rarely see or hear traffic- it's more of an access road for locals. The beach was wide and clean. Yes, there was construction going on but it was improvement to a beautifull area which needed some upgrades. It was NOT loud and did not disturb us. The 3 minute walk to "the circle" is superb. We enjoyed a pub for some drinks and dinner and didn't have to worry about driving. The room was clean and passed inspection for bugs and mold/mildew . The only negative was that the elevator made some funny noises and the doors shook while opening. However, there were signs in the lobby indicating that these were being repaired.
This isn't a brand new facility, but I can't fault it in the least. The location is safe- right beside a high end neighborhood with a spacious well-lit FREE parking lot. The beach is quiet and has lots of natural vegetation all around. It's much prettier than many beach locations in Florida, because there aren't endless condos, hotels or beach shops. I know that if my daughter ends up at school in Sarasota, we'll be regular visitors!

The location was good - across from beach. We did not have a room that looked at beach. The hotel is older and the elevators were a little questionable - whether or not they would open. We were there just for a weekend and not once was I able to get a hot cup of coffee in the lobby - it was always empty. I just asked my wife if she wanted to ad anything - she said they had nice pillows, but she would not stay there a gain.

My husband and I went to Sarasota for a business trip and stayed at this hotel. This hotel was older and some renovations have been done but the lobby needs dire work. The pool was closed for cleaning. If we wanted to use the pool, then we would have to go up the block to another hotel to use their pool. The rooms are nice and spacious but the lobby smelled musty and needed to be upgraded. It was not a good first impression. We only had breakfast there but there was only one waitress (Suzanna), who did her best to get everyone's order in. It just seemed as if she was running all the time. I don't know if this was because it is off season or not. The beach chairs need replacing. They are all rusted.

Despite everything, the beautiful Florida Gulf is across the street. St. Armand's Circle is about a mile away. If you are lucky enough to have an ocean view room, then you can see the beautiful sunset.

Room Tip: Ask for a beach view room. The view of the parking lot is not so great.

Thank you for your honest comments. We are gearing back up for the season, and we have those beach chairs on the list! My husband and I spent a wonderful 2 days at this Holiday Inn this past Sept. 12 & 13. We are Priority Club members and Maurice at check in was fantastic. He accomodated all our needs including the location of the room we had asked for and having a refrigerator delivered to us within 10 minutes of our request. We did not encounter one staff member who was not friendly. Billy and Carol were also very professional and helpful at the desk, as was Kym the manager who made us feel very welcome. Our view from the 5th floor was outstanding and the location was perect within walking distance to many great shops and restaurants at Armand Square. The beach was beautiful and we were very happy so see the hotel offered complimentary beach chairs in addition to a good supply of beach towels. The beach entrance is right across the street and contrary to some complaints I read, the street should not be an issue. It is not the LI Expressway, it is a quiet street that runs along the shore and is a 2 minute walk away. The pool was gorgeous and clean with a pool bar and lunch service. The woman serving lunch was so nice and even offered to take our pictures for us. The rooms themselves were comfortable and the hotel was kept very clean. We have been to many places in Florida and highly recommend this hotel for a reasonably priced getaway to one of the most beautiful areas in the state.

This was our 5th visit to HI Lido Beach and it was the best yet.

The location cannot be beaten and the beach is a delight. What makes this hotel stand out is the caring attitude of the staff, Kym and her team cannot do enough for you to make sure your vacation is fantastic from arrival to departure, and all points in between.

The weather in late April was in the 80's and we cannot wait to return next year.

Thanks again team for making our trip special!

We arrived very late at midnight (plane delays!!)without a booking .The night manaager told us the price for city or ocean views and we said we would take the cheaper city view ,he said what the heck and gave us a ocean view and 2:00 pm checkout ,so that was nice.Up at 6:00 am and across the road for an hours swim before breakfast which there was plenty of ,though nothing special. We just spent the one night there as we had heaps more places to see.
