We just got back from a 2 week stay at Las Olas. Talk about a GREAT time! Wow, we were treated like royalty. The staff went out of their way to help us plan our itineary. This was our first trip to central Florida and there is so much to see and do there we can't wait to go back. Las Olas is an RCI Gold Crown resort. The room we stayed in is one of the larger suites roughly 2000 sq ft. with a top floor view of the ocean and the mainland. In the morning we could watch the sun come up over the Atlantic, while sitting on our private balcony. At nigh, if we were home, we could see the sun set over the Indian River. We were blessed with very few rain days and lots of time to explore. We visited the regular attractions: Disney World Magic Kingdom, Sea World, Cypress Gardens (sadly it is Now Closed), Bush Gardens, Kennedy Space Center. We went on air boat rides on the St. Johns River; It is really more like a swamp that flows. Our guide was a local man who had fished and hunted along the river for 40 years. We saw more aligators in the wild than you could count, Sand Hill Cranes, giant Wood Storkes with a wing span that must be 7 ft or more, learned how to gig frogs cook and eat them. We were able to see the a launch of Titan missle from our balcony one day. What a beautiful site. The beaches are wide and powdery soft sandy. If there was ever a place I wanted to vacation again and again I think we have found it. As if all the attractions and local activities aren't enough, if you like to eat and you like seafood this is the place. You can hardly turn the corner without finding a good restaurant. From Dixie CrossRoads in Titusville, to BoneFish Willies, The Lobster Shanty, Conchy Joe's, The Pier at Cocoa Beach and many more. We went Sea Doing on the Indian River, board sailing on the river and fishing. There are nature trails everywhere and the huge Merritt Island National Wild Life Refuge. It is 140,000 acers of wild beauty. At PLayalinda Beach you can see totaly undisturb beach propery. There is a 7 mito canoeing like we were. You can even go horse back riding on the beach if you plan ahead. There is so much more to tell you about that we did but just trust me . . . if you are looking for UNLIMITED FUN then this is the place. Don't bother with Europe or Asia or anywhere else; it is ALL in central Florida and we only scrached the surface. Have fun!
