We stayed in Eastern Shores Unit 105 for our first family beach vacation. The area was highly recommended and we were excited to stay in Seagrove. However, we were extremely disappointed with the overall condition of our condo. The living room furnishings were primarily uncomfortable, but also over-worn. The futon/chaise appeared unclean and we covered it with an extra sheet before allowing our daughter to even sit on it. The couch needs to be replaced as it looks as though it belongs in a college student’s apartment or frat house. The curtains in the living room are thin and lightweight and do not block early morning sunshine for anyone sleeping on the sofa bed. The dining area was adequate, although the chairs were also uncomfortable and rickety. The cable TV offered no channels of interest and limited HD. The WiFi functioned well in the living room area but the signal was not strong enough to reach the bedroom. The kitchen was the nicest area of the condo, which was appreciated since we intended on cooking throughout our vacation. The fan over the stove did not work and the garbage can had not been cleaned and had splatters of food and stains on the lid, which I cleaned myself. The washer and dryer was in the crowded, awkward bathroom. The washer contained mold that was black in color and standing dirty water in the rubber surrounding the door. The black mold could not be cleaned off. The bath tub did not drain appropriately and filled with water during showers. These things are unacceptable in a unit at this price point.
We were extremely inconvenienced by the parking situation at this complex. There was no parking available on our first night. We had to park illegally by a dumpster, while there were multiple cars in the lot with no displayed parking passes. There was no spillover parking available and we were advised by customer service that “it should be okay.” Evidently, there is no security available to address such issues as there was also illegal fireworks shot from balconies each night we were there. The parking issue impacted the remainder of our vacation because of the concern of having no spot available if we left anytime in the evenings.
In addition, we experienced a lot of overhead noise from the upstairs unit. The grill area consists of 2 small grills between the 2 buildings and offers no seating. The beach was also more crowded than anticipated. It seems customary for occupants to “reserve” their spots on the beach by placing umbrellas, tents, and chairs on the beach before 7:00. I understand the desire to have a good spot, but individuals use large canopy tents, not just beach umbrellas. We utilized the beach chair service during our stay and were unable to initially find our chairs because they were surrounded by others’ tents and chairs.
The issues with the complex and beach area would have been easily overlooked had our unit met our expectations. Sadly, we were not comfortable and did not enjoy our stay at Eastern Shores.
