OK, first let me say that I had reservations about giving my rating a 3, so let me explain. The grounds are fabulous, the service amazing, especially Jill at the front desk. Both the Island Bar and the regular bar were beautiful with great views, service, food, and atmosphere. Really a nice place, except...the room. Though the room was beautifully furnished with a lovely balcony overlooking the river (room 604) it smelled really musty and damp. I could hardly sleep because of it, probably having to do with my allergies, but even my wife felt a bit sick the next day. Other than that, a really nice experience!

Room Tip: Please be sure you go into the room before accepting it!

This is seriously an awesome place to stay. I'm glad we discovered this gem. All the staff is so friendly and helpful, particularly Kim and Caissa. Our room was great, the food at the restaurant was good and sandbar was so much fun. An added bonus is the free rentals of the kayaks and paddle boards that was included in our stay...The kids loved that! We will definitely be back!

Let me start by saying i had a lot of fun here on my 3 night stay and i would probably return even though i gave only 2 stars. The 2 stars is for the room. We were in a 1st floor riverfront 2 queen room. View, beautiful. Other than that, the room was about as inviting as a jail cell. Zero decor, dreary, dimly lit and musty. We had the patio door open every time we were in the room just for some relief of the jail cell feel. The bathroom was really odd as you can see from some of the travel photos, with a really long countertop with only one sink and no cabinetry. The lighting was absolutely horrid in there. Now i realise lots of hotels have poor water pressure in their showers, but this was the worst i have ever experienced. I actually wound up switching the shower off and using the tub faucet to fill a cup of water (repeatedly) to get the shampoo out of my hair. And i have short hair! As far as housekeeping/cleanliness goes, the same hair that was on the bathroom floor when we checked in was still there when we checked out. A bit unnerving.

The good part is the waterfront bar/restaurant next door to the hotel. We had several meals there including breakfast, dinner and late night pickins. Good coffee in the morn and even better bloody marys. We enjoyed just about everything we ordered, especially the steamed clams. Fresh and tender in a great light garlicy sauce with toast for dipping. The live band at the Sandbar kicked serious butt and played a great slection of music. And yes, the Sandbar is actually sandy floored for an even better beachy vacation feel. They have some funky seating out there as well, with a boat to sit in and surf board table tops. Had a great time every time we walked in there. A real party atmosphere.

The location of this place is perfect. Fishing, boating, jet skiing etc. If i ever do return i would try a room in the main hotel, hoping they are nicer and have better housekeeping than the awful river front rooms.

We stayed at this resort the first weekend in May. Our families were gathering to celebrate a bucket list wish of a family member coming down from Maine. When the staff was informed of her visit, they went above and beyond to give this terminally ill lady a night she and the family will remember forever. They treated us like royalty and gave us the best evening we could ever have. We stayed in a marina view room that had a small balcony that had magnificent views. We could sit outside and look down at the live music and entertainment. We can't wait to go back! You could hear the music, albeit muted, from inside of the room, but we enjoyed every minute of it!

Room Tip: Rooms in the newer building are quieter, but if you are looking for a fun time close to the action...

It was an impromptu Birthday get away. We had no reservations and only a direction of "south" we had seen the resort online and figured we would give it a shot. Upon arrival we were greeted with competent and courteous staff. We had an amazing room next to the pool. We enjoyed a great night at the "Island" style bar with a great band "Hypersona". We had spoke with the hotel manager Karen Lufkin about our desire to stay another night because it was the actual Birthday. Karen and her staff worked tirelessly to find away to accommodate us even though they were at 100% occupancy. Karen came through with the absolute best room imaginable for us. It truly made this birthday and adventure one that will be remembered for a long time. Because of Karen , her staff and Anthony "Tony" our weekend morning bartender we will ABSOLUTELY be returning for a repeat visit, not just once but several times in our future. Make sure to try the smoked fish dip- it is absolutely delicious! If you want to have some fun on the water the jet ski rental is well worth the money. Thank you to all the staff at Capt Hiram's and we will see you soon! Thanks for making it an unforgettable 40th Birthday. - Mark & Jen

Arrived May 6th-May 11th.My husband was taken by ambulance that night to Sebastian River Medical Ctr and discharged May 10th.So vacation spent at hospital.Everyone at Captain's was so nice and accommodating.Especially Adam and Kim at front desk.Needless to say I was pretty rattled but everyone was so kind.Hotel is very close to hospital so that was convenient. I must say I missed not having continental breakfast but the restaurant just across the parking lot was also convenient to grab a carry out.I requit not having a vacation but extremely grateful that my husband survived and I managed to bring him home.Captain's made a bad situation as comfortable as possible.Thank you

Room Tip: Suggest you ask for quiet room.Music from behind motel can be loud.

Dear Paba,
We were all so sorry to see when your husband was transported to the hospital. We knew that somehow we had to try to make you as comfortable as possible especially since your vacation had gone in a different direction. We hope your husband is recovering fast. Thank you for your kind comments, they are appreciated. When you're ready to come back down, please feel free to reach out to me.

Looking forward to having you both back with us!

We fell in love with Sebastian about 5 years ago, and one of the reasons is Hiram's. We usually visits a few times a year, so when it came time for us to be married, Hiram's was the perfect choice. We had a simple beach wedding and then a fabulous cocktail/hor's dourve reception in the Tiffany Room. The selection of food was overwhelming, and we ended up with a huge variety of food which satisfied all of our guests, some which were vegetarians, gluten intolerant and also who had a very healthy appetites. The staff went above and beyond and the view was wonderful.
After the wedding, our guests were completely entertained by the live bands and a fishing tournament that just happened to be on the same weekend

Thank you Hiram's for making our wedding weekend with friends and family amazing.
