“Odd place for a metaphysical shop worth a stop for some hokey fun”

Everything in the store is overpriced, as is the norm with this type of establishment. "Mining" for overpriced gems is about 15 mins of fun in the extreme Florida sun. If your looking for something entirely random on this stretch of empty back woods road it's worth a stop to move your legs and look at.

Actually, although this looks like a little roadside shack, it is actually quite an AMAZING place! The Mines is a little "add-on" to the main shop; which is a mix of Wiccan, spiritual, artsy, craftsy, one of a kind stuff! The mine is good to occupy the kids while you shop :-) You get to buy a bucket of sand which is filled with precious and semi-precious raw gems! You pretend to "Pan for Jewles" in the miners stream. We have even found rubies and emeralds!

Spent a few hours with my kids "mining gems" but the memories will last forever!
Amazing finds and great value for what you will take home! Very enjoyable to learn about the properties of each stone! We will definitely go back. The owner is very knowledgable and that made it more interesting. A gem right here in our backyard!
This place ROCKS!!!

Recently took a trip to Sebring, Florida and looked for things to do in the vicinity. The Lost Mines of Atlantis caught our attention as an interesting destination to visit. As we pulled into the parking lot we were a little apprehensive but later would be pleasantly surprised. There is no actual mine on the property, but there is a very interesting gift shop with many unique items from around the world and two pretty cute little dogs.
But what was really enjoyable would be found to the side of the shop. There you can purchase buckets filled with fine gravel that are generously salted with crystals, amethyst, quartz, gems stones (rubies, sapphires, emeralds, fire opals), minerals and fossils. A sluice technique is used as you scoop the contents of your bucket into a wire mesh box. As the fine gravel is washed away it is pretty amazing what the water reveals. The owner, who has a remarkable knowledge of gems and minerals, periodically comes out to identify your finds. As your collection grows, he is even surprised by some of the treasures you have uncovered.
We both had a really good time there. So much so that we came back the next day to do a little more prospecting.

I've been back several times now, by myself and with the family, and tried buckets of all different prices, $15 and up. Always feel like I've gotten more than what I've paid for. Besides the enjoyable experience of sifting through the buckets and feeling like a miner, I've pulled out fire opals, herkimer diamonds, rubies, saphire, large amethyst clusters and so many other cool gems and stones. I highly recommend this place for a few hours of fun and discovery. The shop inside is full of cool and unusual things, everything from collectible minerals and gems, to kids toys like bow/arrows, flutes, drums and stuff. I've had a few conversations with the owner and I can say that he's a genuinely nice guy with alot of knowledge of everything lapidary. Will definately be back again.
