“Why doesn't some company do something?”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

This mall is in dire need of some company to take it over. Clean it up and remodel. Get rid of the ghost town and build it up inside. This town could use an OLD NAVY, GAP, Victoria Secret, etc... if they bring these options to the public the mall might be able to be something. Right now it's only nice because it's a ghost town but that is sad for the employees and the customers. I would rather have a thriving mall in this town than quick easy parking because it's empty. And, why is a KMART in a mall??? I do enjoy the movie theatre however it also is in need of renovation. Seriously it is not 1994 anymore.

“very little hope for this mall”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

As a former resident in the Highlands County Area, I remember the mall grand opening back in Feb 1992 and how wonderful it was to actually have a enclosed mall in this area. It was said that the mall will keep tax dollars spent locally within the county. At the time, the mall was the best thing after slice bread for the Heartland area. Even though I thought it was embarrassing to have a Kmart anchored inside a mall (kind of unusual to have discount variety stores anchored in malls back then), now it's more common to have WM, Kmart, Targets anchored in malls. The Belk store was the only anchor store considered upscale and the next best thing to ever having a Dillard's or Burdine's (Macy's) in the area. The Belk store was the only new anchor store new to the area. Kmart (downtown Sebring), JCPenney (Avon Park), and Beall's (Southgate) already had stores opened in the area for years, they just moved out of their old locations and moved into the mall. Now go 20++ year later, the mall it's a disgrace. But let's be real, the mall was never going to have a competitive edge with having stores found in big city malls (Macy's, Victoria Secret, American Eagle, Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, etc). Malls are often a reflection of the area's demographics. These popular national stores do not fit the demographics for this area. Most of small stores inside the mall are "junk" shops. I'm not knocking down anybody that lives in the Heartland Area, but in general the area is mostly low middle income (long term) residents and seasonal "snowbird" residents with fixed incomes. In general, everyone seems to be on a Wal-Mart budget. The majority of the population seems to be over 65. I also realize the economy took a hit (as well as the rest of the country) a few years ago and this area experienced high unemployment which impacted area businesses. In addition to having Shelby Crossing shopping center open nearby with competing box stores. The movie theater has obvious water leaks as you can see water spots on the ceiling and smells moldy. I guess when your 1 of the only 2 theaters in the area you can get away with letting your cinema establishments run down. Most of the area long term residents who desire for more sophisticated shopping will still drive to Orlando, Tampa, or South Florida and those tax dollars end up being spent in those big city counties. The mall help bring a draw to bring more national restaurant chains (Red Lobster, Chilli's, Outback, Olive Garden, etc) into the area so I say that was one positive aspect with having this mall in the area. The Belk store does not look so "upscale" looking and cramped with too much merchandise stacked on racks and the carpets needs replacement. The JCPenney store is considered a small store and does not offer a full variety of merchandise found at larger JCP stores. The Sears store seems ok, but who shops at Sears anymore? Beall's store seems to thrive at the location. The Kmart store seems to be showing it's age, but the upside to the Sebring Kmart store it's one of the chain's most profitable stores in their chain district. It just seems that it takes years for the Heartland area to get any good stores, restaurants, etc in this area. I dream of the day that Target or Kohl's will open up in this area even though I no longer live in the area, I visit often.

“Not bad for a small town... Could be better”
Reviewed 4 January 2014 via mobile

The good: in a small town popular by the 12 hours of Sebring, this is a good place to come in watch a movie shop at some national stores (not a while lot to pick from) everyone is extremely helpful at all the stores and very friendly.

The bad: a lot of dead space so if you would like a business opportunity it's here and available. Has only a few national chains GameStop, RadioShack, Sbarro, Hibbets, Jc Penny, Kmart, Sears, Belk, Bealls, Kay Jewlers, Zales. Carmike cinemas.Just to name a few, it's a small mall not a whole lot, really should consider selling stuff for the racetrack!

The ugly: really needs a face lift bathroom are gruesome! Feels like the place is in dire need of major work just to make it half way presentable. Food court could also use some work to make it feel more modern versus 1990 ( almost get the feel of "Saved by the Bell")
Also make some effort to decorate for Christmas place looks like it was rushed to get the decorations out and had nothing better!
Convience: there is a post office in the back of the mall and a few national restauraunts in the front.

“The Handy Mall”
Reviewed 1 August 2013

While Lakeshore Mall needs wall to wall updating, it is not only handy but offers a quick selection of shopping experiences. The Mall includes Sears, Belk, Penney's, K-Mart, Bell's plus numerous independent shops. The foodcourt has a variety of snacks and quick lunches for your to choose from. The Movie theatre offers newly released shows and first run movies. All in all, although Lakeshore Mall needs many improvements, we would be punished without it's presence. Hopefully someone sees potential and will make the financial investments required for upgrades.

“Pretty much a dead mall”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

I don't live far from this mall and it just isn't worth going to. The best store in there is JC Penny. K-Mart isn't bad either. Other than that it's pretty much a dead mall. No one is ever there so there is plenty of parking. Stores come and go. Don't waste your time.
