This was our first time staying here and we really enjoyed our stay and will be back to the same place. Staff is very nice, complimentary towels and chairs for the beach too. If you happen to stay in, they also have complimentary DVD's to rent from. This is just steps away from the ocean. We liked the fact we got to have a private beach that wasn't overcrowded. The bed was amazingly comfortable too!!!!

Room was well equipped, but really needed a good cleaning. We had room 100, next to the office, there was a foul odor outside the room. Bed is comfortable, staff is friendly, everything was ok, nothing exceptional, nothing terrible.
Siesta key is beautiful, we will return, but will stay elsewhere..
Its a motel.....not a resort
It's Fine, if your ok with fine.

Room Tip: not room 100, foul smell just outside the door:(

We had originally booked Captiva Resort, got in around 8:00 in the evening... the first room they gave us smelled like fish and was stuck back in a corner with a wood fence as our view out the window. The second room had a musty smell, the bed sheets actually felt damp, and everything was really run down.
We did a quick search of the area and found SaraSeas.... heaven compared to what we had! Captiva was nice enough to let us out of our agreement and we moved into the cutest little one bedroom suite. The space was tiny but well thought out and had everything we needed. A plus for us was the availablity of beach chairs at no cost! Definitely would go back again!!!

Calling it a "resort" is a bit of a stretch -- it looks more like a motel. That said, the rooms are way nicer than any motel, with great furnishings and an ample kitchen.

The hotel and area is very family-friendly, including the private beach. We actually preferred the public beach about a mile north though (private beaches just aren't our thing).

Complimentary DVD rental was a nice touch. Friendly any homey staff. Complimentary towels rental.

We stayed thanksgiving week Wednesday to Sunday. Our family (4) had a great time here. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Grounds were very clean and well kept. Our room was an efficiency. It was updated with granite tops in kitchen and baths, tile floors and shower. You can check out beach chairs and towels for free and take them to the beach, they had beach toys- buckets, shovels etc for use as well. At night, our kids liked to check out the free DVDs in the office. Pools were heated to 84-86 so that was nice with the cooler than normal weather thanksgiving day. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and it was very reasonable considering the week we stayed.

Stayed here for a few days, and here are some are thoughts.. To be honest I am wondering about who wrote the stellar reviews, marveling about the gardens, nature, beauty, etc..

A. Room is tiny, the tiniest we ever stayed at within any "resort". After putting our suitcases down we were stepping over them for a few days and ended up just placing them on the couch.

B. Lush gardens? The room faces the parking lot. You take a few steps and you are in the street. For people who have been to other resorts, they would not consider these to be "lush gardens"

C. I would not mind if the resort just said " Small motel with small rooms, close to the beach" I still might have stayed there if the price was right. I am starting to wonder who wrote all of these reviews?

D. This part annoys me.. We go to the empty beach (due to the cooler weather), and it is filled with 50 empty lawn chairs. 2 guys are sitting there and watching you to make sure you do not sit on them without paying. So we just sat in the sand next to the empty chairs.... With the cooler weather , we weren't going to sit at the beach for hours, so it is just silly to have chairs there and charge people to sit for a few minutes. Would make more sense not to have chairs there, or have them be a complimentary part of the resort. When you enter the beach there are 2 signs.. if you stay at hotel X, the chairs are complimentary. If you stay at this resort, you must pay a fee. just gives you a bit of an irritated feeling.

E. This part of the beach is not nearly as nice as the pubic beach. It is narrow, filled with shells, and empty.

F. One more thing.. Now this is not the hotels fault, but if you are looking to get away, and want to get some sun, make sure you also check wind in the forecast as well. It might be 75-80, but with the wind it feels like 50 and you will need a jacket/sweater/pants at the beach.. Just quite a bit different from Mexico, where 75-80 means warm water, a warm breeze, and perfect t shirt weather.

G. To be fair the area was safe, and our room was cleaned daily. Not as much nearby as the downtown section of Siesta key.
