We've had a rough year financially. Originally, we were to spend our first wedding anniversary back in Punta Cana, but due to a layoff, losing a mortgage and my husband being furloughed, we decided to save some money by visiting my father in the Tampa, FL area. I heard Sarasota was a nice and somewhat close area to venture off to with beautiful beaches.

I searched Trip Advisor and stumbled upon Sara Sea Resort. Our parents treated us for a three-day weekend and we loved it! The room was sparkling clean and really new looking. The kitchen is packed with everything you need (but food of course - but Publix is close by!) even salt and pepper. We enjoyed cooking more in that little kitchen than in our own at home! Stainless steel and granite - even a trash compactor! They provide soaps and even sponges and pot holders!

Like to BBQ? There's an entire patio area with seat, umbrella/tables and BBQ grills.

The bed was so comfy, we loved the flat screen TV at night and the overhead fan was refreshing as was the pumpin' AC. The bathroom was clean and included hairdryer and Aveda products (my fave!) it was perfect!

They loaded us up with extra towels - which smelled like they were laundered in your home - fresh and clean scented - not the typical bleach stench.

The beach is super close by and the pool is equally close, though our first day we accidentally found ourselves in a pool and hot tub that belonged to another hotel. Oops - luckily nobody noticed us :-)

At night, we utilized the free wireless to find places to dine - worked great with the iPod Touch as well.

We loved the friendly, de-clawed resident kitty, Shadow, who found his way to our front door on our last day. I wanted to pack him up and take him home with us, such a little sweetie!

The weekend really was perfect, other than the clouds from Tropical Storm Ida on our last day, of course. The resort is easy to find and surrounded by hundreds of eateries, bars and fun spots. If you're a big eater looking for a less-than-healthy snack, try Munchies 420 Cafe or The Old Salty Dog - both were featured on Food Network.

Tip, pack your GPS to help locate area bars and dining - we always do that when traveling and you probably do too :-)

We found a gem in this Sara Sea Resort at Siesta Key, we especially liked Sara Sea (there are many properties in this small area) because it is all adults- it was busy when we were there, but still very quiet. Our room was spacious and well appointed- walk to the beach was easy and certainly one of the cleanest beaches we have ever seen. Service was friendly, but the front desk is for several properties, asked for wake up call that never came, fortunately we had a backup! A great find was Breezy T's Sports Pub and Grill just a couple of miles away for great beer and blackened white fish! Great atmosphere!

The resort was beautiful. Well maintained and crystal clear pool. The room, inc. kitchen was everything you could want. Luxury soft beds with the most comfy linens. Staff was always available for your questions and tips on local goings on. Definitly a must go to resort and only a short distance from private beach on Gulf of Mexico. My daughter and I could not have had a better time. We LOVED it and recommend it to all who might visit Siesta key fl. Tell Dawn Alice and Ronda said " HI"!

We had a really wonderful time. Our room was outstanding, clean, personel (housekeeping) super friendly. The most important things were: airconditioning woked very efficiently, the bed and pillows were very comfortable, and most important: pet friendly! We'll go back anytime ☺

Tropical shores was our 5th and final visit before heading back to Miami after travelling around south Florida for 2 weeks. With much regret we only had one night stay in the Tropical Shore due to our busy schedule, but this one night gave us back a lot.

We arrived about 12pm at the resort and was offered to upgrade. We paid only $10 for an upgrade from a normal Junior suite to a 2 bed Apartment. Our room was ready for us even though the check in time is normally at 3pm.

The room was great. Very Clean, very tidy, had a full kitchen, free wireless internet, air con that was not loud during the night and very spacious. The Resort also offered free beach beds to take to the private beach which was only a 1 minute walk away.

Being located so close to the beach was great. The sand was white and felt/looked like talc on your foot. The water was warm, clear and shallow and the it was lovely and quiet. The beach was kept clean and tidy and was not cluttered. It was the best looking beach I had seen during my 2 weeks in south Florida.

The only downside to Tropical shores was the fact we were only here for 1 night.
OVERALL: Great location. nice easy drive into Siesta Keys Village for a meal at night, Free off-road parking outside our door step, BBQ and garden area if your travelling with a group - again outside your door step. A swimming pool if you don't fancy the beach, internet, cleanliness, and great service. I would return.
