“In Need of a MAJOR Renovation”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2012

I am a flight attendant with a major airline and have stayed in hotels for more than 20 years. Some were beautiful and in some I didn't want to unpack. For $350/night, I was expecting a lot more. Pros - Dave was very accomodating, helpful and genuinely a nice, interesting man. The staff was great. Canoes and kayaks were free and available. But for that amount of money, I don't think I should have to ask for a second bar of soap. The room was very dark - furnished with heavy, oversized furniture you would expect to see in the cold northeast, not Florida. Dark burgandy drapes hung from the window on an angle. The sheets were grey and thin.(We stayed for 5 nights and they were never changed). We stayed in room #6. They tell you it's the closest one to the dock which makes it seem desirable. However, it is the only room with someone above you and no matter how small they are, you will be awakended by them walking in their unit. The heavy old green comforter was put in the closet as soon as we got there. I had to line the drawers of the dresser with hand towels before I put my clothers in. There were 2 hangers in the bifold closet. The kitchen had a toaster oven that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. I would not even think about eating with the silverware. The pictures of the grounds look beautiful but the outdoor furniture seat cushions were so old that you didn't want to sit on them without a towel. The pool is like a postage stamp. Also, you are not on Siesta Beach and the sand at Turtle Beach is just like the beaches on the eastern shore. If someone hadn't told me to drive and see Siesta Beach I would have missed one of the most beautiful spots in the US. If I had paid $150 for this room I'd say I got what I paid for. It is definitely not worth more than that. Maybe that is why you have to leave a non-refundable deposit of half the amount and pay the balance at check in. If you actually saw the room before you paid the balance you'd gladly pay a cancellation fee and go somewhere else.

Room Tip: Don't choose #6

My fiance and I stayed here this past summer as a last-minute weekend getaway. The resort is awesome! It's big enough to have everything you could hope for, and small enough that you get that cozy feel, and you can still feel like you basically have the place to yourself. It's situated right on the water, and the property is beautifully landscaped, has 2 nice sized pools, hammocks hanging in the trees looking out at the water. They have kayaks and canoes that you can take out at no charge. The owners are super nice, and very accommodating. We got in late, and they hung around to make sure we got into our room okay and had everything we needed. Dave gave us LOTS of great places to check out (too many to do in the short time we were there). Both he and his wife are very knowledgeable about the area.
The rooms are really nice, and very clean. The kitchen has everything you could need, and our personal favorite.. each room has its own fenced-in patio with a private hot tub. Perfect place to get away, great location, would definitely stay here again!

Beach front location, private and affordable! For the price you get access to parking on the key (not easy to come by) for a 2 minute walk to the beach. Took a canoe ride through the scenic Inter-coastal with marine life everywhere for your viewing pleasure. Champagne sipping in your own private hot tub! Dinner at MIguel's that the friendly and professional owners David and Gail suggested (less than 40 bucks for 4 course meal and the food was to die for!). Worth every penny and we will be back for a visit soon! I would Recommend this to anyone!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 8, no kids on that side of the units so very peaceful. Any of the rooms would be...

Siesta key is a very nice area with nice white sandy beach and crystal sea water. Unfortunately this hotel is located at the south end of this strip of land, 10 min drive from siesta beach. Also it is not located on the beach but on an inside lagoon. Apart from the location what was really disappointing is the room, old and with horrible furniture; also the swimming pool was very small and old. The price is way too high: we ended up there because they offered the room with a good discount so instead of paying 500$ per night we paid 300$...but still in my opinion this place is worth 150$ max per night! The positive aspects: very nice outdoor jacuzzi, quiet room, canoe free rental

In most cases I trust Tripadvisor but this is one of those times where I really did NOT agree. This place is old, and not very clean. The rooms do not have water view, in fact they don't have any kind of view at all. The price was outrageous. The bed was old and extremely uncomfortable. The room, sheets, blanket were old and dirty. I do not recommend this place. I have uploaded a picture so that you know what to expect. The only positive thing is that there was a jakuzzi right outside the room.

Nextra73 is a Senior Tripadvisor Reviewer. Her companion called to book a one night stay, in our least expensive unit... and arrived late, after hours. We never met the lady who wrote this review, she never came to the office with the guest that booked the room. Our least expensive unit was discounted for their dates, upon the request of the man that booked the room.. and included a large private hot tub spa, new bathrobes, sherry wine, free wifi and free use of the kayaks, canoes, fishing gear, bikes, and a gourmet dinner discount. The boats were enjoyed by this guest, the hot tub was "good" and the privacy and nature are there for everyone to enjoy. We are not a high- rise glitzy Orlando resort, where these guest are from, with hundreds of rooms and one hot tub for the enire big hotel... We are a small 10 unit romantic Inn. We never told the lady, since we never spoke to her, that this unit had a water view.. however... 9 out of 10 of our cottages on the Bay have views of the dolphins, and if her companion had wanted a view for one night in high season in the Inn.. we had a couple of units available...but the man who booked the unit said this was more than they wanted to pay.
In conclusion, we take great pride in making our guests have an enjoyable stay, and we get compliments on our decor, and guests often call us to find out where they can purchase the mattresses on our beds, since they are so comfortable.
After a one night stay in our Inn, we have offered to talk to this anoymous reviewer to discuss her issues. We welcome our honeymooners, and romantic guests, our families, and our repeat guests who enjoy our ambiance.

This a is a great little resort that no one knows about. Every room has its own private deck and hot tub!
How cool is that?
Help yourself to bikes and kayaks. Enjoy the seclusion.
My wife and I have stayed here three times in the last four years and hope to visit again next winter.
We love Siesta Key and wouldn't stay anyplace else in the area.

Just got back from an amazing long weekend away. Turtle Beach Resort lived up to our every expectation. It is a beautiful, secluded slice of paradise. Rooms are spacious, clean and the views are breathtaking. Canoes, kayaks and bikes are available for guest use, private hot tubs on spacious deck outside our room, heated pool and plenty of lounge chairs to just lay back and relax. We had never been to Siesta Key and didn't know what to expect. Location of the resort is perfect if you want to be away from the "tourist" but close enough to get to everything the area has to offer. Gail and David, the owners, are on site and offer great suggestions for restaurants in the area. They also have special offers from many of the gourmet restaurants in the area. Turtle Beach is a short walk away and the resort has beach chairs available for guest use. We wouldn't hesitate to go back next week!
