It was amazing. We stayed in Whistler. Mark and Rachel made us feel so welcome and it was service with a smile. The breakfast was great, infact bountiful and they were always happy to answer any questions.

The facilities were very impressive lots of hot water always a plus. Parking right outside and easy access.
When we managed to drag ourselves away from the Lodge there was a charming pub 10 minutes walk away.
We were given lots of advice on where to go and what to see. The canoe trip mark took us on was great.
Till next time!

Room Tip: Whistler was amazing but next time Jasper!

My partner and I haven't camped in years but we just wanted to get away from everything and relax for a couple of days without all the usual distractions. He found this place online and liked the name of it and so we rolled up to a very well kept site, secluded but within walking distance to a couple of pubs and driving distance to places of interest. The site itself is small but that was a bonus, there are 2 pods which looked like a pretty good alternative to tenting. The shower block was first class, a delight to use in the morning. We had a long chat with the owner Mark, who was a delightful man, helpful and interesting to talk to. We got out and about on both days, and went to the pub the first night but it was so lovely at the site that the next evening we decided to just sit outside our tent with a bottle of wine and some nibbles and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. A truly enjoyable visit.

This place is fabulous. I booked 1 night in a pod as it was the first time my daughter had been camping and I wanted the security of being able to lock the door! I have never seen such immaculate facilities - the pod, the toilets, the showers - and all in a beautiful peaceful countryside setting. At one point during the evening all we could hear were the birds singing, it was the perfect escape. Mark, the owner, met us on arrival and showed us where everything was and was then on hand for any other queries we had, such as borrowing a tin opener that I had forgotten and helping sort out our portable gas stove! His son was just as friendly and was soon playing hide and seek with my daughter - she had a great evening! The site is only small (the 2 pods and 5 tents during our stay) and this meant a quiet friendly atmosphere just perfect for families.

Fancied just a night away from the hussle and bussle of the normal day to day, and booked a night in a pod as a bit of a last minute idea, and what a great place! If you've not been camping or even if you have this is a great way to sample the life with out the dampness and having to gamble on the weather and elements. The pod is warm and dry, comfortable and extremely cleam. Brand new and very nice toilet/shower block is just a stone throw away, so just bring you chairs, blow up bed and sleeping bag, and a few disposable BBQ's and you've got yourself a lovely compromise between a B&B and camping...will be visiting again soon.

A warm welcome is assured at Big Bear lodge, we felt right at ease in these first class surroundings, nothing has been spared. The rooms being spotlessly clean, the large wet rooms giving my wife ideas, we had an outlook over fields towards Rodneys Pillar, on top of Criggion Hill, Mid Wales in the distance. The previous evening ,had been spent on the balcony, sipping wine , while we planned our walking route for the following day, it was wonderful being able to relax, and wind down, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. There are so many places of interest to visit ,an abundance of walks , in magificient countryside. Both my wife and I ,slept well in the peaceful, tranquil setting, waking up to a hearty breakfast, which truly filled us both at the start of the day. Our hosts Mark & Rachel , could not do enough to make our stay so pleasurable. We will most certainly be making a return visit.

We recently stayed at The Big Bear Lodge. It is a beautiful place to stay and excellent value for money. Fixtures and fittings are to the highest of quality with a shower room/wet room that you would expect to find in a 5 star hotel.... Although we went without our daughter we will certainly be back with her very soon. The hosts were fab and really knew how to make us feel very welcome with nothing being too much trouble. The breakfasts were really nice with plenty to eat. The whole of the lodge was spotless. Lots of things to see nearby with a pub within a 10 min walk away where we had our two evening meals. This place really is a must.... :-)

Stumbled across Big Bear Lodge by chance as has only just opened. What a find, A really lovely location with stunning scenery, The Lodge is newly built so all the facilities are fantastic. Comfy beds with the softest sheets and amazing wetroom. The Lodge is just like a ski chalet and is for residents use only, we were really lucky and had the place to ourselves. The lounge is spacious with fab views over the hills and of the two pet donkeys. Breakfast was delicious - all cooked to order. Mark the owner could not do enough for us. Would come back again and spend a lot longer as this place is an absolute bargain compared to bog standard B & Bs. Really felt like we were on holiday somewhere different.Worth mentioning only 20 mins from Shrewsbury.

Room Tip: Book Banff or Whisler for a room with a view!
