“Great Location - Super Laid Back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2013

We were Agistri one week after the end of the season, so everything was pretty much shutting down for winter. Oasis was still open, though the kitchen was already closed. The owner upgraded us to a Maisonette for the same price - a great room!! They made sure we had everything we needed for our 4 month old. Note - there are no bathtubs.

The hotel is nice, not as gorgeous as the pictures show but nice and awesome location - right on a private beach. Easy to walk anywhere and everywhere.

Agistri is perfect if you are looking to simply chill out and do nothing but relax. And that's just what we needed!!

Note that if you take the ferry it lets you off 2 min walk fro the hotel - if you take a Flying Dolphin, it stops on the other side of the island - quite a hike with suitcases - but there's a bus waiting for the flying dolphins that costs 1.80 EUR and gets you there in 5 min. Get off at the last stop - the beautiful Church. This is also across from the best restaurant on the Island - Moschos - which I will write about in a separate review. OMG!!!

Room Tip: If you can go for an upgrade - get a Maisonette!

I agree with Yodatraveling about the noise. There was techno music in the restaurant bar area put us off drinking or eating there. Plenty of places better around. Waiter service very slow. All the rest of this place is good.

Room Tip: If you are there the weekend and going to bed at normal hours pick a room at the back.

It was simply awful...we stayed in the room from where the picture in tripadvisor was taken..we payed extra for the sea view And the kitchenette... Don't bother...the kitchenette had a mini fridge from the 60's that could barely be closed because of the amount of ice accumulating around the door... There was no real kitchen, and almost nothing to help yourself...the bathroom was ok, as in the pictures...the door could not be look from inside, so somebody from the staff enter our room freely while we were inside ....the breakfast area had flies everywhere, and the ham and cheese looked 1 month old...the coffee was tasteless ...(7euro extra for that ) ..finally the rooms in front of the sea are also in front of the pool ( kids screaming non stop since early in the morning) and the bar-taverna that plays loud music specially during the weekends till3 am.... Not even closing the 2 outer doors, turning on the AA and the tv, we managed to sleep properly...I cannot understand how this place rates this high on tripadvisor...it must be because is the first thing in front of the harbor in skala and it gives the impression there is nothing better around...Not true! Check kekrifalia hotel, we moved there after and it saved our vacations...

We were surprised and dismayed by this review.

Essentially, it contains six criticisms, which we respond to in priority order :

‘The breakfast area had flies everywhere’

- Hygiene is of major importance to us and this comment is, at best, baffling to us.
The breakfast area is supervised at all times and NEVER have we had such remarks.
We would refer Tripadvisor readers to other reviews from the August/September 2013 period, which contain such comments as –

‘Breakfast was perfect’
‘Breakfast was nice with..............everything you need’
‘Nice breakfast to start the day’

{Not a fly in sight (or in flight)}

‘Kids screaming non- stop since early in the morning’ (in the pool)

- Well, kids on holiday do get excited and they do make noise – and long may it continue. However, nobody is in the pool at the Oasis early in the morning.
Indeed, to some generations, ‘early in the morning’ can be as late as midday!

‘Mini fridge ... that could barely be closed because of the amount of ice accumulating around the door’

- Like any responsible hotelier, if we had been told there was a problem with the fridge, we would have rectified it.

‘There was no real kitchen................’

- The Oasis is a hotel, not self-catering accommodation.
We provide tea/coffee making equipment, a fridge and limited crockery and cutlery.

...’the bar-taverna that plays loud music’....

- A recurring comment in Tripadvisor reviews. We undertake to control the music volume next holiday season.

‘I cannot understand how this place ranks so highly on Tripadvisor.....it must be because it is the first thing in front of the harbour and it gives the impression there is nothing better around’

- Astounding!
Everybody arriving at Scala passes at least four other establishments before they reach the Oasis.

In summary, we can only ask the readers of Tripadvisor to judge the validity/accuracy of this review for themselves.

We spent one night here as an escape from the heat of Athens in July. The hotel staff as wonderful and the food was amazing! The room was clean and nice; Air conditioning unit was a bit loud. Take the local bus from the ferry to the hotel....it is too far to walk. Great price for a hotel only steps to beach. Try the local frozen Greek yogurt...yummy! Kids loved the pool, but it is salt water.

Room Tip: Stay away from the pool and restaurant if you have young kids.....loud music at night.

We hesitated on where to stay, in Megalochori or Skala, since it was our first time in Agistri. We chose Skala and the Oasis and were very happy with our choice. As we got off the ferry, the local bus was there and for 1€40 per person, took us to Skala in 5 minutes. From there its a very short walk to the Oasis using a path along the beach...so its in a quiet area with no cars around, which we liked...if you want to be in a more busy and noisy area of Skala, its a 5 minute walk, so its perfectly located... they provide beach chairs and umbrellas on the beach for free, which is great ,but its small and crowded so you need to be there early. We had a seaview room, loved the view! small but comfortable and very clean room, with kettle and fridge..no hairdryer though...but no big deal...never turned on the TV so dont know what channels they have..theres a pool, never used it the ocean is so wonderful!Breakfast was perfect and dinner at the restaurant of the hotel by the pool was also very good! Most of all, it was nice to have great staff take care of us, everyone was eager to please and smiling and happy ! made our stay at the Oasis Skala enjoyable! we highly recommend this hotel and hope to return!

My second visit and as before it was excellent. Right on the beach. Lovely bar and food is excellent. Comfortable rooms which are cleaned daily. Regular faces of visitors which is really nice and to top it off the lovely Martha. Great place for families and so safe. We will be back again next year.

Room Tip: The suites and maisonettes are the best

We spent 9 days at Agistri and Oasis scala beach, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The best with Oasis is location, right on the beach. There is a pool, but we never tried it.
The beach is sand, and quite small, but with free sunbeds and umbrellas (be early).
The rooms are basic, without extravagance, but you will find what you need (exept hairdryer :)).
Beachtowels for 2 euros. We stayed in a double room, and enjoyed breakfast every morning. Breakfast is nice with fresh breads, omelets, egs and bacon, cheese and marmelades, everything you need! Personell were very helpful in all matters. We even used the hotels laundry service - perfect!!

We stayed in a seaview room, over the reception. Perfect views, and nice balcony!
Oasis is a good value hotel, and we would higly recommend it!

Room Tip: Spend the extra money on a room with sea view.
