I'd only been to Stuart, FL to get some rigging done by Mack so I was surprised to learn that there is another Stuart - one which is a picture book town with perhaps the best snapshot being Old Colorado Inn .

This started out as a decrepit 'once glorious' hotel bought and refurbished by a lawyer - a recent refugee from NY City - who either sidelines as a lawyer or sidelines as a father of a huge brood or sidelines as a real estate developer or sidelines as a hotelier. I can't decide except I do note he seems to be doing a darned good job out of at least the last two - and I suspect all of them.

The refurbishing is unusual in that Steve, the man of many talents, has used first class techniques and materials throughout. I didn't see any shortcuts in supplies or workmanship and believe me I looked hard because the quality surprised me. This is a first class job and I mean not as a hotel with the typical commercial fixtures, but as a residence.

Your hosts, the above named Steven and his busy assistant Susan, define gracious. They are a font of information about the area and assiduous in seeing you are made comfortable. Everything from the welcome to the suggestions of where to eat and what to see in Stuart to the bagel based breakfasts are top notch.

One note which may cause some of you to hesitate staying here. The hotel also hosts a fine restaurant which features live music. Now this isn't hard rocking amped up noise but folksy tropical ballad types of singers. This music, which ends in the early evening, is barely audible from the rooms. If you are extremely noise sensitive, at least explore before booking. The music, rather than being bothersome to us, was something we enjoyed hearing.

We (my wife and I) cannot recommend this B&B more highly than we do. It's the cherry on the sundae which is Stuart, FL.

Room Tip: Consider the cottage if you dislike stairs or wish to avoid the live music.

Thank you Steven for accommodating us especially when we made a mistake with reservation dates. Your generous hospitality and photography pointers were wonderful. We felt part of your family. Need to come back to take pictures of the Roosevelt Bridge since we missed it due to the rain. Yummy limeade and brownies, too.

We are former Martin County residents and thought we knew a lot about Stuart. The Old Colorado Inn was a pleasant surprise as we usually rent something on the Island when here visiting family. This is our second stay at the Inn and are very satisfied. First visit we stayed in one of the second floor rooms. Visit number two is in the Cottage. Very nice and home-like, Steven has done an exceptional job with this property.

We highly recommend The Old Colorado Inn for Stuart natives and newbies. You will not be disappointed.

Stayed one night during business meetings, and am planning a repeat visit soon but for fun! Steven, the inn keeper gave us a quick tour and walked us to our rooms. Great atmosphere and lovely accommodations. Bagels with cream cheese and organic juice were delivered and hung on our doors in the morning. Lots of boutiques, restaurants and bars within walkin distance and right downstairs. Safe and clean hotel with wonderful vibes!

Room Tip: Any room is a great room here!

We live in Stuart and came to Old Colorado to celebrate our anniversary with a "staycation". Absolutely great hospitality from the owners, and we loved the Sailfish Suite! Great location within walking distance of bars, restaurants, and Kilwins Ice Cream!

We booked this trip just looking to get away for the weekend and picked the Old Colorado Inn because of it's location and reviews. When we got there Susan had cold lemonades waiting for us. After she helped us out with getting to know the area she showed us to our room. The room was really cute and she even baked brownies for us! She was a really sweet lady. The room was super clean, bed was very comfortable and the porch was amazing! On our last day there we ran into the owner and he could not have been nicer. We really felt appreciated and welcome throughout our entire stay. If your looking to get away from traditional cookie cutter hotels with cold service, and like being in the heart of downtown, this is definitely the place to stay. We will be back!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Luxury Suite which was room 9 and it was awesome!

Great rooms, wonderful hospitality, fresh Limeade ... Loved it.
Really can't say enough about this place. I travel a ton and I'm not easily impressed . . . but the entire experience during my stay at The Old Colorado Inn was a breath of fresh air. Clean, comfortable rooms only outdone by the proprietors inviting hospitality ...
Bagels, fresh juice, etc. at your door in the morning ... spectacular !

Room Tip: Very nice deck for all to enjoy overlooking Colorado Ave in downtown Stuart. Shopping, restaurants...
