“Awesome combination of nature education with real fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014

I recently visited the Florida Oceanographic Center and was amazed with their ability of presenting an educational experience with hands on fun. From the Stingray touch tank with the lively cow nosed rays touching and feeding to the mile long nature walk through the savannah, the guides were knowledgeable and spoke in terms understood by all. Many volunteers were assisting with everything from cleaning the tanks to giving explanations of the many exhibits. This was a wonderful experience which held the attention of the 5 year old girls to senior citizens.

“Finally Got Talked Into It”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

So after several trips to Hutchinson my wife's friend finally managed to talk me into going to the Oceanographic with her because no one else would. Feeling sorry for her I bit down hard and went - you know what? I had a heck of good time, learned some great stuff about the ocean life in the area I never knew about, saw some great turtles and interesting fish. It was a good tour, not too long, inexpensive and I got to touch a sting ray. I really enjoyed our visit and I recommend it to any old duffer like myself who think he will be uninterested. I was a fun good surprise and takes very little of time.

“Great for families with little ones”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014

My family enjoyed the oceanographic center. OUr 2 year old enjoyed seeing the turtles and sharks, and trying to pet the stingrays... He was a little scared, but loved watching mommy and daddy touch them. We enjoyed storytime by at the turtle pavilion and got to see the staff feed the turtles and the sharks. It was a fun few hours for the family.

“LOVE THIS PLACE!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

My children love this place. We have been several times of the past couple of years and it just keeps getting better. They are constantly making improvements to the center. This is a great place for children to experience the local ocean dwelling creatures. They can actually touch most of them. Everyday, they offer stingray feedings, fish feedings and a turtle talk. There are mulitple touch tanks with everything from horseshoe crabs, sea urchins and sea cucumbers. During turtle nesting season, the offer guided walks on the beach. So much fun!! Keep in mind, most of the facility is outside so the weather can be an issue.
