Visiting Florida State University. Hotel was convenient and reasonably priced. Not the classiest of Marriott properties, but is was comfortable. The bathrooms had been cleaned, but the staff could have done a better job. Breakfast is free and very good.

AVOID ROOMS NEAR ELEVATOR. Give yourself a 2 room buffer between you and the elevator. We stayed in a 4th floor room directly across from the elevator, and the room literally shook, rattled and hummed ALL night and day long. The noise was not a constant pitched hum, but rather a pulsing hum that sounded as if a truck were right outside the room. Coupled with a headache, this pulsing drove me insane. When in the hallway, the exit signs and ceiling tiles were literally rattling.

The hotel itself is pleasant, the furnishings and decor throughout the hotel and room are nice. The hotel seems to make a decent attempt at being mildly upscale, but fails in the things that really matter in setting itself above the rest, and some things just drag the overall feeling backdown.

While my review focuses more on the negatives than the positives, the hotel is still quite nice. I would stay here again, given the opportunity. But, I would be much better prepared with the knowledge of having stayed here. My intent to point out all the negatives, no matter how trivial, is to inform any possible hotel stayer of potential issues.

The layout of the rooms are a bit awkward as others have mentioned. The TV is hard to view from every place in the room, except one of the beds. The beds themselves are rock-hard. While they aren't uncomfortable, they're still ultra firm. The pillows were impossible to get comfortable with. The A/C system is simply inadequate for the room size. It will run all night and day to try and cool the room off, but it will never be truly successful. The split bathroom layout is very convenient, but the sliding doors leave a lot to be desired in terms of privacy and noise control, especially the toilet area. The rooms are pretty clean, we found hair in the bathroom, but that's a problem to almost every hotel. Our room did not have towels when we checked in, only a couple washcloths and a solitary hand towel, which we assumed were left overs from the previous guest. The only REAL issue with our room was the proximity to the elevator, as mentioned above.

The hotel itself was adequately nice. It feels more modern than 95% of other hotels, and is clean. The front desk ladies were pleasant. Parking is inadequate however. If you return to your room late at night, you can expect to have to park in the adjacent business's parking lot (which the hotel directs you to). The breakfast buffet was good for a continental style breakfast, and included scrambled eggs, sausage, DIY waffles, etc. Seating is at a premium during the busy hours of breakfast, and you may end up eating in your room. The snackbar is nice to have onsite, but is super expensive. A small ice cream sandwich was $4.

The biggest problem that I could see people having issues with, is how they handle credit charges. When you first check in, they will put a hold on your card, not for the estimated cost of your room, but for the estimated cost rounded up to the nearest $100. So for instance, our room was $350ish for 3 nights, but they put a $400 hold on our CC. It didn't drop off until a few days after we checked out and were charged the actual amount... I can envision this causing a LOT of grief for someone on a really tight budget. Most hotels don't even put any type of hold on your CC, much less the entire amount PLUS some. I know the hotel says its for any incidentals or charges to your room, but its a time bomb waiting to happen. Especially since you are NOT informed of this from the get go.

Room Tip: Give yourself a 2 room buffer away from the elevator, especially on 4th Floor.

We stayed their August 1st 2014 for our sons graduation service at FSU. We book 5 rooms for family from out of town along with a room for us. The staff was very welcoming from when we first stepped into the building. Hello and welcome to Springhill Suites may I help you check in? Very nice! We ran into housekeeping when we were taking our luggage to our room and again we were greeted! " Hello, if there is anything you need please call us. Enjoy your stay!" Then we walked into our room, very clean and loved the layout. A powder room and a shower room... comfy beds, nice work space and refridge and coffiee area. The room comes with breakfast - eggs, sausage, waffles, bagels, toast, fruit and cereal. The only complaint would be there was only one slow waffle maker... But I would rate it one of the Best in Tallahassee! Thank you for everything! We will be back.

The room was very spacious and well-appointed and clean. The toilet is separate from shower which makes it nice. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was included and the fruit was very fresh and delicious. There were many healthy choices in addition to the breads and pastries.

The room was impeccably clean and comfortable. It was quiet - I stayed on the top floor and didn't hear a peep the whole stay. And the folks at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. Great stay all around and I would certainly stay again!

We've stayed here several times over the last few years as a stop over on a long drive. I like the free parking, quiet area, large rooms, modern décor and free breakfast. The beds are really comfortable and the water gets really hot. There is plenty of room for my family of 4, including the portable crib. My daughter doesn't like the dark so we leave the shower light on and close the frosted door which works well for her night light. Service is usually great, we get there late at night and they're helpful and usually run the crib up to our room while we unload the car. I did notice that the benches in the breakfast area were cracked and showing wear from our last time there.

Room Tip: We like the 2nd floor.

Spacious rooms, friendly front desk staff, great prices. The place isn't exactly brand new, but the bathroom was big, the rooms have a kind of Japanese-architecture feel. Everything was clean. This is a good find in the city if you're just doing an overnight stay. Quiet.
