Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the past and present culture of Florida. Major attractions include a glimpse into the culture of the Seminole Indians, as well as a reconstructed life-sized Mastodon.

Interesting museum, lots of well labeled exhibits. Several life size models of sailing ships complete with sound effects. Free with a donation. We didn't have enough time to really appreciate it.

This museum traces the history of Florida from prehistoric times to the present. It's not too big to be overwhelming and is highly interactive. You ( and maybe your kids too) will be wowed by the skeleton of a wooly mammoth found nearby in Wakulla Springs. You can walk through a Spanish ship, sit on a canon, view the loot the Spanish lost in shipwrecks, and climb aboard a. St. John's River steamboat. The kids will love playing dress up in Grandma's attic, too! This museum has a great little gift shop. Ask the cashier for a parking token and your parking will be free! An hour to two hours here and you will have seen everything! Well worth a visit!

good, not exceptional, overview of Florida history -- well worth a stop when in the Capitol area -- good bookshop for Floridiana, and a convenient cafe with a too-early closing time (don't plan the coffee-break for the last minute of your visit)
