great place to take pictures down by the gulf.
a lot of mosquitos in the summer time, and watch for gators in the waterways walking around.

“Fantastic photo Opporunities”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Everything. The marshes were blooming water lilies through out the park. We were there on a Monday so it was very quite and serene. Such a beautiful area. If you are a bird watcher this is the place for you. The ladies at the gift shop were great and very knowledgeable about the area.

“just another nature site”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

it was very hot when we visited ( so keeping that in mind, ) there is nothing much to do there. you just go with family and a picnic basket and spend a evening or day or till the mosquitoes/insects bother you. you can catch a crab with your hands at the lighthouse. there are a lot of them running around. we were constantly getting bitten by huge flies. so decided to return back. there were a few others who were enjoying the peace with friends though

“Gators everywhere”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

It isn't crowded here and there are lots of opportunities for wildlife viewing. The lighthouse levee nature walk is short and we saw alligators in the water to the right. There are lots of birds as well. We saw four baby gators run into the water as we got out of the car to see one of the lily-filled ponds. We saw another small gator walking along the road. There were many people fishing.

Very beautiful! Worth the trip! The lighthouse was not open due to refurbishing but the area is beautiful. Be sure to wear your walking shoes!
