Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park
Ranked #7 of 91 things to do in Tallahassee
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 1 July 2014

This garden is a fairly small attraction, you will not spend any more than a couple of hours visiting.
The house is open for a tour between January until April. There is a large lake that you can sit by.
the gardens are clean and tidy with restrooms around the park, there are also drinking fountains around the garden as well.$6.00 per car to get in so not expensive.
I would not go out of your way to go there but if you are travelling between Thomasville and Tallahassee the gardens are minutes of the main road just before you reach Tallahassee and worth a visit.

Plenty of benches. some covered, for picnicking. Facilities to bbq. The water is sectioned off for swimming. The grounds are extremely pretty and clean and there are rest rooms available. Plenty of space for children to run around. We had a lovely day there.

During our trips to Tallahassee each year we always make time to visit the Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park. There are always a variety of trees, bushes and flowers in bloom. The Secret Garden is one of our favorites as well as the gated garden and reflecting pool. It is a wonderful place to walk and see nature at its best. Beautiful, peaceful and refreshing.

Nicely wooded park plentiful in magnolias and shade. The lake was high due to recent rain. Benches at decent intervals for those of us that creak. The park seems to be popular for wedding photos.
