“Cute museum”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

Very calm museum, indoors and outdoors. I liked the greenhouse very much. In an hour you have a good impression what a plantation was like.

“Lots of Antiques to See”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

The mansion is stuffed full of original furnishings. The most I have seen during a tour of this type. Good tour. A little expensive, but I was happy to support there efforts to restore and preserve this beautiful home for all of us to enjoy.

“must see inside house”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

Gardens have a wildness about them but that seems to be the plan. This is not a manicured landscaped garden. There is a lovely reflecting pool that used to be the swimming pool hidden near Fanny's cafe.
Had a nice lunch at Fanny"s then took the house tour. Costs $12 for tour. Guide explained about all the previous owners. House contains items from all of them. Some interesting artefacts and stories about the owners and how the house changed hands.

“History CAN Be Fun”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

Visited on a Friday morning, to catch the first tour of the day while it was still cool. No one else signed up, so we had a private tour with volunteer, Sue. She shared a lot of the "juicy gossip" and drama that played out in this house. Nice that each family left articles behind and these have been saved to create a place that doesn't feel stuffy and dead, like some old estates do. Sue was very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and interesting.
We had a great visit.

“Must Take Tour”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

Very nice historical tour as part of plantation. This home has been restored to include many original furnishings of the owners. The docents were very informed about all history and furnishings in the home and we could tell they were very passionate about their work. Many buildings are in process of restoration as well as the gardens to original plans. We did not make time to enjoy the cafe this trip.
